Why are people writing Marquez off?

Pac is bigger, better and not killing himself to make weight.

If he learns from his mistakes from the Floyd weight gain, he should do better physically.

Pacquiao has an advantage at 144 for sure, but it's still less than the one Floyd had, in terms of rehydration.

This is a victory that has escaped him and likely captured his mind, and has largely defined his perception in the boxing world as a man who fell just sort of the glory he may have deserved.

The stylistic match-up still exists, regardless of Pacquiao's nifty improvements here and there.

Pacquiao isn't the only one whose learned a thing or two; JMM is always learning as a student of the game.


All that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the combined factors of age, weight, and Pac's ability to do his job well have him lose. But if these factors are less apparent than they seem, then the impossible is certainly within reach for Juan Manuel Marquez.

I really thing 'killing himself' is an exaggeration, no offense. I think people exaggerate his weight-cutting a lot. He's full and happy now because he doesn't have to cut at all. But a fighter doesn't kill himself making weight, and then box 12 hard rounds with an impressive reserve of stamina.

 

Honestly I think Marquez is done....... I mean I do not see him getting up for this fight, he may say he is up, he may look the part but come fight night you will see what I am talking about.
And whats ****ed up is, Manny is stilly trying to compare himself with Mayweather in terms of performance, he can not afford Marquez to win a single round, Think about it, Pacquiao would not be taking this fight, after Floyd clearly dominated Marquez if Manny and Roach really beleived that Marquez may have Mannys number dont buy into that ****, Marquez is done.

 

his style fits right into manny's. but, marquez is older now and has lost a step. manny has improved. hes fighting bigger guys and blowing them out. marquez will need peds to make this fight even, or hire bernard's condition coach. if manny struggles or if this fight is close, i dont see him beating mayweather, who is above marquez in the skill department.

 

Marquez is a career feather weight.. He looks good at 135 but not great! Manny has also improved and put on weight, Hes going to be too much for JMM @ 144! I will still buy the PPV because I love manny pacquiao but I dont expect a War like the 1st two bouts!

 

Pacquiao won't look like a zombie pre fight

 

The reason is that they look @ how he performed the last time he fought in WW div. and he's gotten slower. Pac is now comfortably settled in the div. and he's improved drastically since the last time they fought. Pac's punches are more powerful now than before.
