    It's embarassing that there's never been a single cuban heavyweight pro champion, Maybe there will never be one.

    Well, it's a small island nation of about 11.2 million people, and most were not allowed to go pro. They had to ESCAPE.

    I'd say they are doing very well, relative to their political oppression and population size at heavyweight.

    Gomez was very good. I'd pick Ortiz over Wilder easily. He's hardly a hype job.

    This has been discussed to death...

    They lose their ambition after defecting. And those that keep their ambition (Rigo, Ortiz, Lara) often make poor business decisions that hold their careers back.
