Why are promoters so slow to make heavyweight fights this year?

Under Covid it became the norm to just not make important fights, which is where the sport was heading with all of the ducking and waiting for title shots anyway. When someone gets what they always wanted, they don't give it up easily.

Truth is not enough money to go around, usa is mostly in a recession already and with this monkeypox outbreak its going to get worse again.

Because they are celebrities. They don't have to fight to survive or for a purpose other than money anymore.

Fighters like Dubois should be fighting 6 times a year. It's sad to see fighters stuck In stables no coming out to fight more.

With freely accessible digita/social media the fighters favour "Jaw Jaw rather than War War"

Bingo, a weak division made worse by the fact they won't fight.

    We shouldn't be greedy.

In June we have Dubois v Buffet Bryan for the WBA irregular poundland belt
In July Eddie is trying to get the British punchbag Chisora v the American-polish punchbag-sausage Kownwacki
In August we have very fat man Ruiz v very old man Ortiz

Seriously what more could we want ?

Heavyweight is the money division. All fighters know if they politic in the correct way they can get into a Mandatory position for a shot at millions. On top of this promoters like PBC only want in-house fights. Plus heavyweights in general make bigger purses.

for instance Fury will not fight again this year. Wilder will be given an interim title fight. Parker and Joyce are fighting for WBO Mandi and Frank Sanchez (in-house) is number 4. Therefore PBC will be telling Sanchez no fights as you will get the wilder interim title fight. For him that’s atleast a $2-4m payday
