Why are so many Americans underrating Froch?

Ive been kinda surprised by the reaction of so many American posters to Carl Froch.

Ive read so many posts proclaiming an easy KO victory for Taylor or him hugely outclassing Froch.

Where you are guys getting this from?

Froch may not be an ATG, but he is a skilled fighter, and he certainly is even with Taylor.

Froch has decent handspeed, a great chin, solid offensive range of punches, and knows how to time his opponents coming in, and he carries solid KO power in both hands.

Taylor has the superior jab and hand and footspeed, and can box more and punch himself, but Taylor hasnt amazed in his last few fights. He has the solid UD over Lacy, but Lacy was faded looking in that fight, he hasnt been the same since he tore his shoulder agaisnt Tyspko.

This should be considered a 50/50 fight. Froch is undefeated, and from every interview he has given, he has been nothing by clear headed, confident. and well aware of the effect a victory or loss to Taylor will have on his career.

Taylor on the other hand, this is a make it or break it fight, and he knows it. He has been unfocused more than once, and says that now being the underdog he is motivated, but suffice to say it is Froch that seems more sound in the confidence game.

Man, I'm BIG JT fan. I can NOT cheer against him EVER!(except those 2 fights against my very fave, LOL) I tell you, probably like yourself and all HARDCORE boxing fans, I get nervous as hell for a big fight for my top faves. I wasn't nervous at all when JT fought Lacy.....but, I'm nervous as a mudder ****er for tonights fight!

Froch is a damn good fighter and IS TO BE RESPECTED!!, but IMO (not just a hugger's call) Taylor is gonna prove to be too fast, experienced, and hungry for that belt to lose tonight.

I do NOT underestimate the FACT that Froch is a damn good fighter.

Answer: Because we've only seen a few of his fights. He looked good warring with jean Pascal - another unknown commodity - but that's about it.

A convincing win over Taylor will change all that.

How high are we supposed to rate him? He hasn't fought anybody yet. Tonight is his time to shine. If he beats Taylor than he will get his respect but right now he doesn't seem on Taylor's level.

Thats fair enough. He His a good fighter and I think he as something to prove because he's always been in JC shadow. Anyhow I'll be listening to it at three oclock on five live.

He is unproven. He wins tonight and I will give him credit even though I am not that high on Jermain Taylor it would be a good win.

i dont buy into the whole jt has fought higher standard so he must have better chance. ouma and spinks are light mids, big names yes but come on. froch ko's both them in same night. pav, 2 losses and he prob has a skill set not a million miles away from froch so if anything that would point me to a froch win tonight. ok hopkins on paper is a great result, but they were debatable and some may say he only got the nod due to bein the golden boy.

anyway not long to go now till we find out one way or the other!

every fighter has something to prove

a fighter coming off big time loses has something to prove (jermain taylor)
a fighter who is unknown to the masses has something to prove (carl froch)
a fighter who is supposedly the great has to produce results ( floyd )

    etc etc

they all have something to prove.... and i agree with you... and ill definitely be watching

Carl is gonna fly the flag for the brits and is gonna whoop taylors jacksy.

Americans have never heard of him. He has great power and an excellent chin. Calazaghe decided to retire instead of fighting him as knew hew would be forced into retirment after getting knocked out.

I stopped reading when you said Froch is a skilled fighter.

Froch is a mess and doesn't even have much power.
