why are so many people fixated on Fury-Usyk?

Joshua could sign to fight Fury or Wilder tomorrow if he wanted to. He hasn't fought either one, while they've fought each other. The other names on his resume are pretty irrelevant top 10-ish sort of fodder that no one really cares about.

No interest in the top two boxers unifying the HW championship? You'd rather watch a meltdown in fans?? Why don't you go to a soap opera board instead, you clearly belong there...

Wilder ducked Joshua for years, I'd be surprised if he suddenly changed his mind now.

And Fury wasn't keen enough to make it for bigger money and all the straps so again, why would he feel differently about that fight now?

Whilst true up to a point, there's at least multiple top ten level fighters... Wilder has beaten one fringe top ten fighter at absolute most, and even then not completely convincingly - it'd require significant bias to care more about Ortiz than about Povetkin (who Wilder wanted no part of), for example.

As for Fury... Yes, he's got Wlad (arguably a poorer performance from Wlad than he gave against Joshua) but then you're looking at Wilder whose resume is shocking, especially for a former champion, and a few fringe contenders like Whyte and Chisora (both of whom have done at least as much with their careers as Wilder has).

Worst thread I've ever seen in the general and I've seen some bad ones.

No he couldn't, because neither guy has ever wanted that fight.

There's only one person to blame for why Fury-AJ didn't happen and it ain't Joshua.

His cruiserweight accomplishments are irrelevant. At heavy he has Joshua and little else. How can he beat 1 top 10 heavy and suddenly be the standout number 1/2 guy of an era? Andy Ruiz beat Joshua remember?

    Usyk's heavyweight resume is
    Witherspooin
    faded Chisora
    AJ (2X)
    Dubois.

That's not an impressive resume even by post-Lewis standards.

About 25% of that is the same names Wilder gets flack for beating. I think the “deepest” argument goes out the window when most of the guys AJ fought were 40 and none of it really led to an improved fighter.

You guys are nuts. Anthony Joshua has three losses and he hasn't even fought the two biggest names in his division. He's not great.

never said he was great. Fury and Wilder aren't great either, thus their shitty resumes. They avoid challenges.

A lot of the reasoning being used doesn't even make sense. If Fury beating Klitschko is proof of greatness in Fury then wouldn't the same be true for Joshua beating Klitschko. By that logic Andy Ruiz is great for beating Joshua and Parker is great for beating Ruiz with Joyce great for beating Parker.

If Usyk had remained at cruiserweight would people be arguing that Fury had to beat Ruiz to prove himself the best? I don't think so.
