I was under the impression a huge number of people wanted Hopkins to school Pavlik.

I thought nobody really cared about Pavlik-Hopkins, so it could've gone either way.

A big shot is Jones only chance, but even then its slim imo.....
....Calzaghe is just too smart a fighter to be lured in for such a shot.

The way I see this fight is Calzaghe just suffocating him with volume.....
.....great fighters like Calzaghe have a sense of when on opponent is going to come with something, when he's senses that from Jones, I believe he'll either move laterally away from Jones or if they're at the ropes where Jones lately likes to spend alot of time at, he'll just tie Jones up.......

Imo Jones does'nt have the balls......he's a fighter that has the explosiveness to fight all the way through to try and land that big shot......but sorry to say, he's one fighter who I believe deserves to be talked in such a way......
"He's a dog that cant fight his way out the bottom!"
Jones will quit on his stool before Calzaghe has the chance to KHTFO!

Reminds me a lot of Lewis Tyson.

Its the biggest fight that can happen, champion is a dominant aging Brit, while the challneger is a Boxing legend past his best, still ranked in the top 10 by most. both have enough fans to pick the underdog to win but come fight night there is only one winner. Joe Calzaghe.

Where'd you get that? One of Roy's press releases?
Roy is not suddenly un-shot. But this fight is being slod as competitave based on Roys reputation which in turn is based on form he hasn't displyed for years. Don't know why people woul buy into this innuendo about the 'old Roy' being 'back' and other such bull**** - they want to believe it despite it making no common sense - much as was the case with Mike Tyson's repeated abortive comebacks some years ago. Boxing fans never fail to throw away their brains and yield to romantacism in cases like these. Perhaps the 'new Hearns' can take on Calzaghe next.

Ive actually detailed my cases throughout many threads as to how he'll most likely take it...but ive just got tired of ****in re-writin' the **** :-((

but just to sum it up...Joe lacks clear boxing basics...and it shows...he tends to square up when he punches and his balance is ****in horrendous :verysad ...and seeing as how a less harder puncher Hopkins popped him with a similar lance-like jab that Roy has put Calzaghe on his ass...Roy has a huge chance at not only catching him with many of these sort of jabs because of Calzaghe's leaky defense but also be able to add more than just that punch...Hopkins problem was that he wasted much of his energy containing Calz after his signature charging jab...Jones on the other hand tends to add a counter hook, body shot, or uppercut in the mix with this thudding jab...which will be much more effective than hopkins' homo hugging

my only concern and doubt on Roy is his motivation to close...he claimed he KNEW he couldve finished the fight clean and clear with a KO over Trinidad but decided there was no need to...Maybe jesus told him not to be a bully...whatever

but in this fight...i seriously hope "jesus" is telling him to KO Calz and finish the show...if he wont be willing the close the show...Calzaghe will win on points...

There are 3 reasons why people are picking Roy in this fight:

    1. Nostalgia

    2. Calzaghe hate

    3. Wanting America to be better than Europe in boxing.

At this stage in their careers, the only way Roy is going to win is if he either KO's Joe or knocks him down several times to rack up points. There is no way he will outpoint Joe without scoring KD's because he doesn't throw enough punches. Hopkins tried that against Calzaghe, and BHop's much better at it than is Roy (trying to win rounds on 'ring generalship' vs volume punching), but he ended up losing 7 of the final 8 rounds on 2 of the judges' cards.

Roy could catch Joe and stop him. He has the right tools to be able to do it. He's fast enough and naturally larger. And, he's not going to be scared of getting caught like he was against Tarver or Johnson.

It could happen, but it probably won't happen. Roy is not going in the wayback machine; that part of his career is over. He's not Hopkins, which is one reason he's avoided rematching Bernard. Still, he's a very live underdog and may be able to drop a well-timed bomb on Joe and win the fight.
