Why are so many ppl picking Martinez over Cotto?

I brung up Floyd because Mayweather is alot more skilled and has way more defense the Martinez and even though Cotto lost he broke thru a defense nobody really has in recent years or ever! DOES Martinez have defense>> HELL NO!!

Yes Martinez got dropped by a crusier weight but he also got dropped by Murray, i think Macklin, Pavilk and somebody else. Martinez has been down at least once in 4 of his last 5 fights. do i think Cotto can drop him also?? Of course!! Can Martinez KO Cotto?? Of course!!

So for people to say Cotto has no shot is dumb as hell. Martinez has never fought anybody with Cotto's skill set ever! Cotto has fought bigger fighters (Margarito) Faster fighters (Mayweather) better defensive fighters (Mayweather Trout) so Martinez will be nothing new to him.

 

People need to learn the difference between an interesting fight, and a good fight. This is NOT a good fight and I agree...Sergio is getting a pass here. Everyone knows he should be fighting GGG or at least Quillen.

This is a sideshow of 2 shot fighters. It would be a great undercard on a big fight...but that's about it. Cotto is still getting put down.

What makes u think Cotto is shot?? I dont see it. Trout is a solid fighter, that doesnt mean Cotto is shot. Trout did very well against Canelo also. Cotto did well against mayweather and KO his last opponet.

I do agree saying Cotto has NO shot is too extreme. Every fighter has a chance. Who knows, it could even be something like a knee injury that ends the fight for Sergio. I'm basing my prediction on the fact that I think Cotto is more finished than Martinez. Cotto is mulling retirement and Sergio has wanted a BIG name for a long time. This is Sergios big moment, while Cotto is looking for a title. Stylewise I just think Sergio will be too unorthodox for a solid fundamental Cotto. I doubt Cotto gets to rip many bodyshots.

I could be wrong and I have been before, but looking at their stle matchup, Cotto looks in way over his head.

Im putting $3000 on Cotto the very first day the line comes out.

If its such a lock for Martinez put some money on it and take out your family or yourself for a good vacation in the summer.

You're not even being realistic. Cotto hasn't won a good fight in years, but I get it... you're posting emotionally out of Rican pride. I can't stand Sergio, but I'm smart enough to look at it realistically. Sergio beat Pwill (arguably twice) who is better than any win on Cottos recent resume.

 

I ALready told u why i think hes gonna win, to much pressure to much skill for Martinez. and has a better trainer then Martinez.

Just put the money up bro. make yourself have a great summer if Cotto has no chance.

Also I bet pac by KO when he fought Cotto so even though im Rican when i see a good fight to bet i make it happen.

 

What exactly is your point? I said once the extra Olympic style testing came into effect certain fighters began to decline rapidly. Am I wrong? No. You are under the empression I give a **** about a Mayweather or a Bradley or that I have no idea what happens behind the scenes in pro sports. I'm wide awake. But do I give ****? No. My point was that cotto being a world class boxer against a steroid free declining 40 yr old with no defense who can't take body shots, is a good bet.

Should be a fairly easy night for Martinez.
Cotto has seen his better days and at 160 lbs he's going to be
slower than ever.

The thing about this fight is that I'd favor Martinez even if it were the reverse and it was Martinez moving up in weight to face Cotto.
The fact that its Cotto going up makes this a mismatch.

Martinez wins either way he wants, by boxing or by going to war and brutalizing Cotto.
That simple!
