It does indeed. And Machida would win IMO.

(not that Machida is young, because he isn't, but he does not have anything like the wear n tear of a Shogun or a Rampage, and has looked very effective in his recent fights, including JBJ)

I'd like to see DC vs Jones It really interests me to see how Jon can cope with DC's speed and grappling chops (providing he can make the cut to 205 OK). That's the fight I want to see I like Gus & Machida but I'm not convinced either can trouble Jones like DC possibly could.

I think gus would win, but I could definitely see it going either way(very good style matchup)

Because he already beat the **** out of all of them... Gus and Glover would get wrecked as well! The only guys that got something for Jones is Cormier, Cain and maybe JDS!

If JJ wins, a fight with Silva or Cormier are the ones to make.

No way does Gus deserve a Title Fight... He deserves it about as much as Glover T and Machida. So let them fight each other. Machida won a single round against JJ, got dropped, split open, choked unconscious in the next and now he is ducking Gus? Holding out for a rematch? He can go # himself as far as I'm concerned. JJ is the mother #ing man and this fight will get the casual fans talking even more about JJ v Silva. I've said this all along and Daniel Cormier is a fool if the thinks he is going to be worth a damn at LHW. If that fight does come off JJ will steam roll the sapped fighter like the rest of them. If anything a fight with Daniel Cormier should be at a catch weight or put off for now. I say no catch weight and let the two fight sometime next year.

JJ v Silva is where it's at because at the moment GSP doesn't believe he can beat Anderson Silva. I don't either.

Nowhere in my post did I support it, nor did I claim it wasn't a joke.

I don't consider Vitor/Jones as much of joke as I do an unfortunate circumstance.

A Jones-Cormier match would be a great defence for Bones, but I'd like to see Cormier fight a contender at 205 first. Just to show that he can get down and fight at the weight without his kidneys shutting down. :conf

Cormier needs to get a big win at 205 in my opinion. Can he even cut to that weight? lol. But dropping weight doesn't always mean your skills translate. Jones would pick him apart and stop him.

If Machida is dismissed it leaves the division without a clear #1 contender, Machida is the closest thing to it, without being able to mount a serious challenge to Jones himself! Its a really tricky situation, Jones is just ploughing through top guys one after the other with little to no fuss, Machida was the only guy to give him something to think about and he's still getting better.

Gustaffson, Glover (even though in his 30's) and Phil Davis look like they may be the future of the under belly in the division but its difficult to see how they crack Jones, then you have seasoned world class campaigners like Rashad Evans and Machida again neither can touch Jones!

Cormier is the hope but look at him, he aint making 205 and he aint beating Jones!

I think the best thing for everyone is to have Jones flit between 205 and HW! and have him fight as a 225lb new and improved version of Randy Couture, because after this year there will be literally nobody who can challenge him at 205.

I'm not so sure Cormier can't make 205. I thought the same as you until I saw just how fat he was at 235 against Mir. There is so much weight to lose there. I mean, I've heard the story of how he damaged his kidneys trying to make 211 for a wrestling bout years ago, but surely he could trim 30lbs just to make weight, then rehydrate like a fiend afterwards. Cormier at 235 was fatter than I ever saw Fedor, and many used to say Fedor could've made 205. I really don't see how a flabby 5ft 10in guy cannot make 205, but monsters like Jones and Forrest and Tito and Rampage can, you know? Sure DC would have to lose a lot of weight and train like a psychotic to get that trim, but perhaps he just needs to do it.

Would he still have the same insane strength without all that bulk? That's another question entirely.

It's different body types. For example tua was chubby at times and like 5'9 but nvr could have dropped a weight. Cormier is thick and take a few pounds of fat off him and he'd be pretty jacked. Weight drops, especially in the higher divisions rarely work out.

Cormier has excess body fat agreed, but he's not like Roy Nelson, he's more muscle than fat, it strikes me that Cormier is one of those guys who just does not hold down an impressive physique but is very fit and is genuinely a HW, otherwise known as a "fit fatty" we call them in our gym.

I honestly dont think we'll see Cormier at 205, Fedor could never have made 205 IMO, I was never one of those guys who labelled Fedor a blown up LHW, again genetics and life style gave Fedor a flabby appearance but he had all the physical tools and more to be very effective, a lot like Cormier.

This situation kinda reminds me of when Sherk announced he was going to 55 and people said WTF!!! Cormier may have to do a trial run before he fights to see if he can get there without killing himself, and then rehydrate and get in the gym, just like Sherk did.

Even if he did, I think Jones beats him anyway, even if Cormier was 225, 235 or 245 I fancy Jones to beat him.
