taylor was out on his feet. i dont think he was aware that he was on the canvas, judging by the blank look on his face. he could'nt have gotten up
And when he was coherent again, I believe he asked if he was KO'ed while he was still taking a seat. His people nodded in agreement.
i don't think taylor's a hype job, but there are a lot of hatters out there who don't want to give pavlik any credit.
If Taylor "had" gotten up, a 6'-3" Pavlik would have tried to pile drive a right hand out the back of JT's head. JT was helpless, and it could have turned into a very ugly night.
I think what Bernard Hopkin said rings so true about this fight and Jermaine in particular! He wasnt just ktfo ..he quit
Did Smoger actually stop the fight before Taylor hit the canvas? I think Smoger might have, and thus the reason why Smoger was right almost on top of Taylor, possibly inhibiting Taylor to make a move to get up if he could. If Smoger stopped the fight before Taylor hit the canvas, I'm fine with the job that he did as a referee. ......but if he decided to stop the fight after Taylor had gone to the canvas......Taylor is already on the canvas, why not give him a count to see if he responds to it? It would'nt have mattered in this fight imo, but in some circumstances a fighter looks out of it on the way down, and seconds later is clear enough to get up and even make a fight out of it. Smoger's knee lay right on front of Taylor's face, and Smoger was'nt even looking at Taylor's face to determine his condition as he was waving the fight off.....thats why I'm of the inclination that Smoger had made a determination to stop it before Taylor had hit the canvas.
