Why are the top p4p fighters older?

    I was just looking through boxrec and not a single person in the top 20 are in their 20s, on average they are in their mid 30s, is it because none of them are fighting each other? Or are fighters genuinely peaking in the mid 30s now?

    Naoya Inoue is 28 and is a consensus P4P Top 3.

    Inoue isn’t in the top 20 on boxrec for whatever reason

    To answer your question, it seems to take longer to build a resume as it is very difficult to build up the required amount of wins it takes to be considered p4p, but traditionally it’s been like that for a while.

    But let’s be honest the boxrec p4p list is extremely strange, there are guys in the top 30 in the world on that list who have hardly fought good opposition.

    Because....

    - boxrec rankings are a joke.

    - takes time to build the resume.

    Boxrec algorithm values volume is what I’m guessing…
