in ideal world that would the goal.

im not aware of the prices for testing in other countries, but sometime ago, there was some young ****ers, who were caught cheating in a local gym, and if caught they have to pay themselves.

i believe it was around 3000-4000 in danish kr, which is roughly 700-800 dollars.

Not that much, but in the lower en of the foodchain, im not sure they agree.

What the hell.......where do you draw the line???
Are we going to start testing athletes at the highschool level????

Wake up and seperate yourself from Pac's nuts......

    Cost effectiveness!!!!!!!!!!!

The sport cannot afford to test everyone......but it can test those at the top level who make serious cash.

    What the ****!!!!!!
Pac and Mayweather each will make in excess of 20 million and possibly higher than 40 million a piece, and you are to say that those two athletes should not be tested because there is a 9-5 janitor who boxes on the side that will possibly never be tested????

If that full-time janitor/partime boxer is'nt subjected to random drug tests, neither should should millionaire boxing champions???????:patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch:-(

    UNBELIEVABLE!

you can shout all you want but what you are suggesting is not right. right now, any fighters fighting under NSAC will undergo the drug test required by NSAC. all pro league players are undergoing random urine drug tests. why would it be different for other fighters? so we have some 4 rounder guys who would do the regular testing while we have those superstars doing an olympic style testing which are for the amateurs.

and we are discussing here olympic style testing in boxing as a whole and not just floyd-pac. the OP calls for it. do you wish for changes to stop on just the pac and floyd fight and other superfights? then you are not cleaning the sports.

What he's getting at is if the more stringent testing is only done at the world title level, then the majority of fighters that fall under that banner will be "detered" from using PEDs because ultimately, their goal is to get to the world title level (where they'd have to be clean).

It wouldn't completely get rid of cheating though.

    I am for better testing but;

    - Olympic style tests have no place in boxing
    - Any new laws should be controlled by the boxing commissions and agreed upon nationally

I think the testing right now is fine, but it just needs to be tighter. I would think blood tests immediately after the fight and random urine tests are enough to catch the majority of cheats. I don't think there is any need right now, to start initiating much more thorough testing.

Frankly because it doesn't work. The issue isn't testing, the issue is the people that are designing undetectable steroids. Any athlete that is making as much as Manny or Floyd isn't using something you can detect unless you have the formula from the designer. Chambers and Ward have never come up dirty, and they are going to Mosley's old buddy Mr. Conte, does anyone else find it slightly surprising that they both had out-of-character good performances in their last fights?

This would of been an interesting debate 6 months ago, now it's a case of the majority taking the sides of their favourite boxer rather than what is best for boxing.

When you've got someone like Shane Mosley admitting in court that he had used performance enhancing drugs even though he had passed every test he had taken then boxing should have conducted a review of the current drug testing procedures straight after.

The only people against this are the bias fans... Random blood testing is needed in this sport for many years now. And everyone saying Mayweather started all this, should do more research. Mike Tyson himself ask for Holyfield to be tested, and guess what Holyfield did. There is plenty of other fighters that have had certain request. The only difference many and most agreed for testing and in Manny's case I guess he's perhaps the very few who refuse to agreed.

I think if you have to implement it, there should be no exceptions. Make it a rule so that everyone should follow, if you just choose who would be tested and not, it's not cleaning the sport... coz someone might used PED knowing they aren't going to be tested like the rest.

I think we have a consensus.

    1) The best deterrent for PEDs and to clean up the sport is Random blood and urine testing.
    2) Ideally these test would be industry wide but due to cost constraints it may only be practical to implement these test for "big fights" and randomly further down the line.
    3) There is a need for a strong central force or body that help implement these other changes.
    4) these changes may not only help clean up the sport, it may save it.

It's a blood test not a blood drive

So what your saying is fight fair when your amateur but get roided up when you turn pro?
