Why are you against Ward-GGG fight?

I'm not okay with it but that's what will happen. I wanted Cotto-GGG since Cotto beat Martinez hell I wanted Martinez-GGG. I'm telling you that if Canelo beats Cotto that fight will not happen next and GGG will be left holding the bag yet again. The WBC won't stand behind GGG and will instead stand behind their new champ Canelo.:deal

Cotto fought #1 fighter at MW ??? Golovkin has been #1 for years. Sergio's promoter, DiBella, clearly said that his client is in no condition to fight "this animal". Crippled Martinez who fought Cotto would be beaten by any top 20 MW.

Ward planning to fight Kovalev sometime over the next couple of years gets him full credit today.

GGG planning to fight Canelo-Cotto winner gets him ragged on because it's obvious "whoever wins won't fight him".

GGG is cherry-picking smaller men who fight in the same weightclass he does, while Ward gets support for targeting a middleweight and doing the same Mayweather callout GGG did.

Makes perfect sense. I guess that's what happens when your fans have to go back an Olympic cycle to cite your best work.

At least Andre can get another negotiating table KO when he inevitably offers something laughably one-sided to Kovalev and gets rejected. His superfans have had plenty of those to cheer for.

LOL, they even turned down 50 year old Bernard Hopkins and Lara, so you know they want no part of Ward. They showed this when they countered to fight him at 162.
GiGi's team are experts in avoiding tough fights while making it appear that they, for one reason or another, couldn't come to terms to make it happen. Sophisticated duckery.

 

Martinez still held the belt, but you know damn well that GGG was and is considered the best fighter at 160. So clearly, Cotto did not fight the best guy at middleweight and neither is Canelo.

Because I want GGG to become a legend. To do that, he needs to dominate as many weight classes as possible, which means he has to stay at 160 lb for as long as his frame allows (he is 159 on the scales so that is at least 3-4 more years). He needs to get all 4 belts, and fight every big name in the division, including some young lions that will later enhance his legacy by becoming champs when he moves on.

Then I want him to move to 168 and fight progressively improving opposition, and to fight Ward his 5th or 6th fight in. No catchweight BS, no 164 lb, true 168 fight between two greats. If he wins that, he is a first ballot HOF. If he collects all 4 belts at 168, he is an ATG. And I will be happy.

If he skips 160 before he is done with it, he will be just another guy that was a champ in two divisions. That would be a waste of a talent for him.

PS: I wish he started at 154. So many big name fighters that are nothing compared to him at that weight, he would be a PPV start already.

MW division hasn't been fully conquered yet. Cotto and Canelo have already moved to MW. They could be followed by Andrade, Charlo brothers, Vanes, Lara, etc. There is no need to hurry moving up especially before unifying MW belts.

 

Like I said earlier better fighters than GGG have moved up to take on bigger and better things. None of those guys will do anything for his legacy with the exception of Cotto or Canelo who BTW won't fight him.

 

He is not a guy who started at fly/featherweight at 20. Those guys are becoming bigger naturally maturing. Floyd became a natural welter, Cotto became natural super welter, etc. Golovkin started late, and he is not becoming bigger. The only other weight he can conquer is SMW, so there is no need to hurry.

 

Which middleweights moved up and didn't get beaten at higher weights ?
