I always had Floyd number 1 with Pacquiao being an extremely close second in 2007,2009,2010,2011. How can you say Marquez is #1 P4P if he can't beat the #1 P4P in Floyd. The most you can say is that he is second to Floyd. It's like this: Let's say you have two strong powerful champions and a contender beats one of the tough champions. He still has to beat the other tough champion to cement himself as the best.
1 amazing victory, this man made an elite fighter (top 5) look like an amateur. Rigondeaux has proved alot in his recent fight. Ward on the other hand has cleaned out an alright division and beaten a drained Dawson.
I don't know how on earth you could even come to that conclusion. But hey, Rigo got knocked down in his fight with Donaire so I think Donaire would beat him in the rematch. Kinda stupid thinking but hey it's esb. What do you see in Dawson or his skills that would favor him in a rematch with Ward with 7 more pounds on his frame.
You did see their fight right? :huh Dawson, even at 175, was not a consistent performer. At 175, Ward beats him clearly again. He's just a notch or two above Dawson at the moment.
I think that Dawson became lazy when he started winning championships and the subsequent losses have made him refocused and hungry again. The weight has also affected him I say a somewhat substantial amount. A strong healthy hungry Dawson I feel could edge it out against Ward. [yt]buOnSxz6DpM[/yt]
P4P is not about "favoring" hypothetical match-ups, it's about who you beat. Otherwise the whole thing is useless. You can't forever rank one fighter below another just because they fought once and one beat the other years ago. Within the same division, P4P ranking should be treated like a linear belt. When Peterson beat Khan, even though he lost to Bradley years prior, he should have been the man at 140 because he had the biggest win out of any of them recently. Floyd never fought Pacquiao, and Marquez dethroned him. That win gets him the crown, it doesn't pass it over to Floyd. Losses aren't eternal ranking debts. Otherwise Singsurat and Chris John and Margarito would hang above Pacquiao and Marquez and Martinez's spots.
Naw it always bugged me that Donaire was a p4p guy but I favor 3 guys against him at p4p. There are guys at 140 and 147 who beat Marquez he can't be p4p the 2nd best boxer in the world.
Leave the OP alone! He's clearly new to boxing, wants to learn, and has only had about... Oh wait.. He's had over 1,000 posts... atsch
