Why aren't the alphabet sanctioning bodies more lenient about mandatories in the HW

.. in the HW division? It seems like when it comes to any of the weight classes below heavyweight they always manage to turn a blind eye long enough for a unification, yet when it comes to the heavyweights they're always on the fighters asses about mandatories. This is part of the reason why unifications have taken so long.

Because crooked promoters pay them off so that thei beltholders can hold on to the title for as long as possible, and each of them is marketed as a heavyweight "champion".

This all done while fighting mostly bums, schoolteachers, garbagemen, video store clerks, drag queens, and phone sex operators.

Yeah, but this pretty much applies to ANY division. You can't tell me that the promoters aren't crooked in the middleweight or welterweight division.

Of course they are, but in those divisions, the big fights have to happen because they are not heavyweights, and the casual fan mostly pays attention to Heavys. In the smaller weights, being a mere titilist and fighting mostly bums will only get you so far.
