I highly doubt you have mates who would give world class boxers a run for their money. You are under estimating just how good these guys are. The reason that we don't produce enough great fighters is that there is no mainstream media exposure. Its not popular enough a sport, and we simply don't have the quality of trainers or opponents in Aus necessary to produce top level fighters consistently.

It is a problem within the aboriginal community I agree. Not being racist here, just stating my opinion.

Who's the next glass chinned bum from Brooklyn to get KTFO? An aussie in a street fight in brooklyn would be like a bull in a china shop. Chins getting broken all over the shop.

There have been Aussies who had the chance to shine in the big smoke but failed to do so. I do think it is a number thing. Maybe they're in the PUB or wherever it doesn't matter. Most AUssie boxer nowdays are from overseas imported....

My theory is the aussie 'macho' mentality, society and consequently trainers focus on things like being tough and showing heart, instead of the science and technical things involved in boxing which is undoubtedly the most important thing. Trainers here worship Tyson, Duran, hagler. Guys like Pernell Whitaker and sugar ray leonard were pussies.

u can blame this on AFL. boxing in aus is small coz other sports r more popular here.. less participants = less potential

generally we're too middle class, things in Australia arent difficult enough, country's like Mexico, & some country's in central America, Asian countries, & the blacks in America are all down trodden, they have to fight there way out of the Ghetto etc, In Australia there just arent enough ghetto's.

Most blokes can go to work each week & pull a decent wage, employment is very low, mnost people can afford all the basics, & Housing, compared to other western countries is not that unafordable.....

So why climb into the ring to get your head punched in?? Sorry, but lifes just notr that difficult & intense in Australia, we get it to good, Desperation breeds good Boxers
