Frank knew exactly the right opponents to make burns look good and make him a 2 weight champion. Hearn as made 2 bad choices since.

IMO since he has left Frank his opponents class has been raised, Beltran has been on the fringes of world class for a few years and Gonzalez although none of us had heard of him looked to be top class until the round before retiring.

Frank is very good at getting the most cash from fighters before they leave him and have to step up in levels Naseem Hamed and Ricky Hatton are 2 that immediately spring to mind.

I wish Ricky Burns all the best and hope he recovers fully and gets back to the ring to carry on his career.

below is what I've said about Burns for sometime now.

watching Ricky can cause a great deal of anxiety, especially that last outing. I don't know what it is, he seems to suggest in his manner that I am good and I WILL do it, but he at times leaves you worried in the mix.

I've stated too, that I believe lateral movement was a major 'missing' ingredient to his fighting arsenal, I hope they have seen this too.

anyway, I'm not only expecting Ricky to win in good form, but I fear he has too or his top fighting level will not be quite the very top.

It's all a bit of a shambles regarding the Beltran situation but to be fair to Hearn he has come out and admitted he scored the fight for Beltran by a few rounds, won't find many other promoters being that honest

I was wondering the same he doesn't look half the fighter he did against Mitchell Rocky Kats etc .Maybe Gonzalez and Beltran are just better prime fighters . Thing is about Mexicans they can box and fight . Especially if he was Pacquiaos sparring partner .

Matchroom haven't matched Burns well. They have just plucked names from the top 10. No thought has gone into the selection of the opponents. Matchroom just didn't know Burns as a fighter.

As it stands Ricky Burns' career is in trouble. Years of good work could be down the drain.

Matchroom do take a lot of risks because they make fights for the TV station and the fans. It is all about the short-term. Once a fighter becomes worthless Matchroom will ditch him. They are yet to rebuild a fighter.

By worthless I'm assuming you mean losing an absolute ton of fights in a row to nobodies...in that case what promotional team wouldn't drop a fighter? Not like matchroom go round dropping fighters after one loss is it?

At least matchroom are willing to make the fights fans are demanding, if you're a fan of boxing you should be grateful
