Most people, as always, are picking the younger, supposedly fresher fighter to beat BHop tonight. Not only that, but they are picking Chad to completely destroy Bernard, as if Bernard is some sort of 2nd class fighter. Well, let me explain why Chad is gonna get beaten up tonight. You see, I am a (former) Chad Dawson fan. I've been watching him for the past 6-7 years. I thought he showed real grit and determination in his earlier fights as well as showing an increasing level of skill and talent. I rooted for him to unseat Tomasz Adamek, which he did in style. I thought he was the future of American boxing. But then, something happened to him. And that something was named Glen Johnson. Their 1st bout in 2007 was a exciting, but Chad was beaten that night, no matter what the scorecards say. Glen really pushed him to a place he never wanted to go, and he exposed alot of Chad's mental issues as well as some defensive liabilities. Now everyone can have a bad night, but that began a steady decline of Chad that was really sad to watch. His subsequent fights with Tarver (especially the 2nd one) showed him to be a lazy fighter, one whose mental lapses would cause him to lose rounds and look stale. Tarver won 4 rounds by my screcard in the 2nd fight, many of them coming late, and when Tarver pressed the issue, Chad seemed to really have little answer. Then in the 2nd Johnson fight, Chad did win it, but he literally ran from Johnson all night, and looked bored in doing so. Not saying he should have just stood in front of Johnson, but he seemed like a man totally uninterested in the fight at hand, and just skated to a decision. When Chad next faced a man who was younger and had comparable speed and power, Chad lost. Pascal really took the fight to him, and Chad did not respond well. In fact, he tried to foul Pascal to get out of the fight, which is what he did against BHOP in the first fight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Nv-sQ-RLw8[/ame] This shows that Dawson, when faced with a man who wont back down, will start to unravel. He should have beaten Pascal as he is technically superior, but he did not. He just.....well....did nothing. His next fight against a (very) limited fighter in Adrian Diacanu was also alot closer than it should have been. Diacanu pressed the action in the middle and late rounds, and actually started to hurt Chad, who looked lazy and sluggish and didnt even seemed interested in fighting. Again, when Diacanu pressed the fight, Dawson had no answer but some pitty pat punches and to try to run. As far as the fight tonight, if he comes in that way against BHOP, he is gonna get himself hurt. I blame alot of his in the ring issues on the constant changing of trainers (it's really ****ing ridiculous) and his lack of discipline, and that will play a factor tonight. Chad hasn't looked "good" in years. Like 5 years really. His skills have eroded. He hasnt really developed well pass the Adamek fight, and it shows. Now everyone is expecting him to just " show up" against BHOP tonight and totally destroy him, but that is not based on reality at all. The BHOP hate on here is astounding, and really more based on racism and people doubting his toughness. You are all going to eat crow tonight. I can already tell BHOP is seriously fired up and will look to make Dawson mentally fold again. Dawson's confidence is a false one, and that will show tonight. Expect BHOP to frustrate him with defense and movement to Chad's right. Chad will be open for the right hand all night, and will miss with most of his return punches (and expect his punch output to dwindle as the rounds go on). Chad will be strong on the inside physically, but I expect him to not be too proficient with his inside game (he never really was). BHOP will have him out of the fight mentally by round 6-8 and I would not be surprised if, when faced with the reality that no one is really scared of Chad, he actually quit. I'm sure people will say I am wrong, but I have always believed Bernard's style is all wrong for Chad, and it will show tonight. Unless Dawson decides to tackle Bernard again (like he tried to do to Pascal), expect a dominant BHOP victory. BHOP UD12 or TKO 10 DAWSON. :deal
Johnson twice Tarver Twice Hopkins once and.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGBhQbmPwH8&ob=av3e[/ame]
*Hopkins isn't going to pressure Dawson and make him uncomfortable, he physically can't, and even if he could...he won't. *When was the last time Hopkins knocked somebody out? Dawson clear UD, bigger, stronger, faster, very skilled, experienced, better jab, better combo puncher, and isn't 47 years old.
B-Hop is most dangerous and most motivated when people are counting him out. More people are counting him out now than ever before.
dude's closer to 50 these days. That being said the more I think about it the more I think that Bhop has a better chance this time round then he did last time (that is if the injury hasn't affected him too much). Chad was fired up last time round. It was his moment to get his title back, against the guy who he'd been looking to fight for years. But then it went to **** and now he has to hit that emotional high all over again. That not very easy and I think that's an advantage for Bhop. Also bhop looks like he's slimmed down bigtime for this fight. He muscled up for pascal and could barely make the weight in their second fight. Speed is what is going to be his best weapon against chad. Yes chad is bigger physically then him but he's not going to muscle him the way pascal did. So he doesn't have to worry about his strength in this fight. He's had more time to prepare himself physically and now he'll feel like the fight is mroe on his terms then it was before. Again another advantage for bhop. I actually didn't think he was doing that bad when the fight was stopped last time. I think he'll do better this time round too.
I am so excited for this fight. Hopkins looked bad in the 1.5 rounds they fought, but then he always does early on. I can see him adapting to come back and win a close UD. Chad is mentally weak, and if he starts to unravel it might be too late before he regains a foothold in the fight. Bhop by UD. But its a very tough fight to call
