Why couldn`t Bivol stop Canelo despite the smaller man being weaker and tired?

he didn't really go for it but it felt like he could if he really stepped it up.

Was content to play it safe, disciplined and run away with it. If any of his combos rocked Canelo he would have brought the hammer down I think, but Canelo does have an iron chin and was hurt and disheartened but never rocked.

Same reason as Usyk. Corner did not tell them to finish their opponents.

Mmmm he hasn''t knocked anyone out in 4 years and we know Canelo has a solid beard.
So not really worth the risk of being clipped himself when he can easily school Canelo.
    Which is what he did......

To be honest he tried whaling on Canelo in the corner a few times and Canelo pulled some pretty slick defense

    He fought risk adverse

He doesn't load up on his punches

Boxed the little ginger nut up

He should stop him in the rematch, Canelo hates fighting at pace especially against a bigger man. Bivol should take him deep and drown him.

Because he doesn't commit to offense like that, he takes the stoppage if it presents itself, but he won't come out from within himself to break his man. Despite Canelo's toughness and legit chin, I felt a stoppage was potentially there for Bivol if he was to really apply himself to turning the screw (the fatigue of trying to pin down and penetrate the defenses of a bigger, technically sound man while absorbing his naturally heavier blows was taking a toll on the Mexican), but he didn't really make any attempt to capitalize until spells in the 11th and 12th.

It felt like he could of stopped him in the latter rounds if he really turned the heat up though. To be honest I think he just played it safe and avoided the risk of getting clipped with something himself as he was up big going into the championship rounds and Canelo was gassed and out of ideas at that point.

Bivol was never going to stop Alvarez, his beard is SOLID...it wasn't like he brutalized him, he just outboxed him for 10 of the 12 round.

i do agree with you thought, by the 5th round, Alvarez was dog tired and out of ideas....his corner had no f'ing answer either.

It's pretty obvious.... it's a combination of Canelo's defense being just a little too good and he has an excellent chin.

Yeah Canelo does have a solid beard but you don't always have to KO someone to get the stoppage, Canelo was gassed and if Bivol stepped on the gas the final few rounds I could of seen him getting a stoppage by taking him into deep waters and drowning a dog tired Canelo on the ropes on accumulation of punches.

Fury vs Wilder 2 kinda stoppage.

He could've put his foot on the gas if he really wanted to try and get him out of there but he doesn't chase the KO. If it comes it comes and had he hurt Clen I'm sure he would've upped the pace.

Bivol is The Teacher because he schools everyone he fights

The only other fight of his that was 'close' is the Craig Richards fight, and contrary to what some will try and have you believe and those two blind/corrupt judge's cards, like the Clenelo fight, it wasn't close at all. Those two close cards were a bloody disgrace

Also, Clen has a great chin and is very good defensively with the head movement and is difficult to hurt and hit with combinations which is how Bivol gets most of his stoppages. Bivol is one of the best combination punchers in the game and he puts them together with impressive speed

    Great accuracy too
