Why boxing sometimes makes me sick to my stomach

I'll watch it, but I won't pay for it.

 

People get sick of boxing these days because of the alphabet organisations and the bollocks that go with it, namely:

The best fighters not fighting each other
**** fighters at the top level
**** mandatory challengers
Ridiculous rankings
Paper champions

In the old days, it was very rare for fighters to duck each other, as there was only one world title, and everyone wanted it. These days there are that many that a guy could just hide behind one and claim to be the best, Hatton and Calzaghe, my favourites did it with WBU and WBO. Also, the rankings which determine the right to challenge the champion are warped - the bodies give guys who fight for international and inter-continental belts preference (prob because of sanctioning fee!) over guys who win meaningful belts such as British, European or NBA.

I think the trash talking also makes people mad, but on the flip side, actually gets people talking about the sport, so its a double edged sword - nobody in their right mind believes Carl Froch is the leading supermiddle weight (apart from the man himself for past three years) but it will make people think 'i will watch that to see if he's any good'.

Can understand peoples frustration, but I just prefer to watch the guys whose actions speak louder than words. The names Joe Calzaghe, Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosley spring to mind, as opposed to Floyd Mayweather, Junior Witter and Roy Jones.

 

Wont watch and certainly wouldnt buy:nono

As for comments about people not thinking about the sport?

Yeah, DLH AND PBF dont give a damn about the sport Its all about them, **** the hundred plus years a history right? No one ever fought for legacy, huh?:-( Fighters always fought for money and the TRULY GREAT CHAMPIONS, did it for respect and legacy as well.:yep

This fight will be LUCKY to do half of what it did the first time. The Golden Fishnet Girl fighting a Charade of warmup's that wont better prepare him for Floyd is supposed to make this an event?

Floyd will make more money vs cotto and the Williams vs Quintana Winner because THEY ARE LIKELY BOTH UNDEFEATED Titlelist's that are clearly the REAL COMPETITION.

they ae nowhere near the same. last weeks fight was simply two past their prime fighters coming to have a payday, but they did not affect any other legitimate possibilities. it was what it was. fans were not deprived of any mathups due to this fight.

on the other hand, these twi greedy *******s are definitely affecting the legitimay of the sport, as dlh is no longer viable as a hampionship contender, and this fight is preventing a truly possible competitive fight. this is simply a money grab, and **** the fans.

but unfortunately some out there will buy it, and try to spin that boxing is a business and the fighters shold make as much as they can get. but what they don't see is that as fans, we pay the price by not getting the best fights available, and if we don't pay for these bull**** matchups, they will realize that they will actually have to make fights that we actually want to see.

 

I agree 100% with this part of your statement. The fans have no one but themselves to blame for this. You give 2 guys $60 million you can't really blame them for wanting to do it again. As long as we keep paying for it they will keep doing it. The only way we can force the fights that we actually want to see if to not pay for the **** ones and support the guys that deserve the big paydays.

 

There's no tension and drama to this fight. Everyone knows Mayweather will win.
