I agree to an extent, especially with British fighters, it seems anyone who has the commonwealth title over there is and should be considered on an elite level with the rest of the world and all i has to say about that is why? It really is ridiculous to an extent, every damn BBBoC holder is on the top 20 rankings over at boxrec, you have to be kidding me.
You realize that Jones hand in your avatar is about to come up for what could be a brutal left hook that Mayweather never sees, and with his handspeed he will never get out of the way of it? No, Calzaghe won't stop Hopkins.
The post is stupid as it seems to ignore that Hatton has fought several times in the US and won, he fought in the US as a rookie and he fought and won as a champion. He could have fought PBF anywhere in the world and he would still have lost, PBF is an ATG and easily the best P4P fighter in the world. Lewis was not Canadian. He was born in London, grew up in London until he was 12, moved to Canada and then came back to London in his early 20's. If you moved to England just before you were 13 would you class yourself as English? And when you moved back to the US at 20 would you no longer think of yourself as American? Hamed also won several fights in the US, David Haye has already fought in the US and frankly if a fighter can make a good living in Britain first then why should they travel? I could say US fighters don't come here because they lose, like Corley losing to Witter in London or Lacy losing to Calzaghe or all the US fighters who came here and lost to Hamed, Benn, Eubank and Hatton over the years.... But that would be plain stupid much like this thread.
Explain to me this UK, Britain, England thing? They are all different? Not being funny, but they don't teach us the difference in the states.
my thoughts are that you are muppet. why is it you find hard to understand that when an american fighter , fights a british fighter in america and the american is a big favourite to win, that when the american does in fact win , that justifies your arguement. thats why they were favourites in the first place, because they were odds on to win. not that your opinion counts for much as you know very little about the sport. you admit you had hardly heard of jeff lacy was before he fought calzaghe, beleive that roy jones fought joppy. say that joppy is way better known than nigel benn in world boxing and that you now no longer beleive in father christmas after waiting up for him all night . troll.
Are you a complete idiot?(serious question). Hatton fought 4 times and won before losing the best p4p fighter in the world. Twice in Vegas, Once in New York and once in Boston. Naseem also fought 4 times in America before losing to Barrera. Also, im sure some of the other fighters you mentioned must have won there as well. *****.
i give up in despair soometimes at how thick and introverted some people on esb are. i have read on esb that if say for example an american fighter from pennsylvania travels to las vegas to fight then that is the exact same as a denmark boxer for example going to italy to fight an italian. there arguement-well its about the same distance .
You can't say ''I dont count Lewis' dominant wins over the countless world class American HW's because he was Canadian'' He was born and raised in London until he was 12. He is by his own admission, British.
England is a country on its own, so is Scotland and so is Wales. put the 3 of them together and you have Britain. If you then also add Northern Ireland you have the United kingdom (UK)
so being born in the capital of a country and being raised there for a good portion of his life isn't enough for you? regardless of his motivations, he fought as a pro under the british flag. nothing you say will ever change that. it's a pointless and fruitless arguement on your behalf.
Never knew Scotland had any association with the others. Why only Northern Ireland? Southern Ireland is seperate?
