But I do know that there are obviously some horrible places in the US that no one would want to live. And believe me, the KKK chooses it's path wisely when they do those things, where they know citizens will abide by the police protection the KKK receives doing their little show. They won't go to Compton and do that.

 

Agreed. And like anywhere it is about bad areas and so on. For example Drexl was saying Sao Paolo is the worst or most dangerous place he has lived. I have several friends from there who live in London, for them personally they feel more at risk in London because back home they lived in nice areas miles away from the favellas and the gangs. Here they can only afford to live in very poor crime affected areas.

But what we can generally say is that outside of Compton, Queens etc and outside of the worst estates in Britain, neither country is very dangerous in day to day life, neither is threatening to walk around and the idea that there would be heaps of dead British fans in New York if they booed or started fighting is just ridiculous.

But your point about the KKK is true, either way this topic has gone off on a strange tangent, but it is just amusing to see some 16 year old kids acting as if everywhere in the US outside of Vegas is Sierra Leone or even better a few pages back someone claiming that Vegas is one of the top 3 tourist destinations in the world and that he doubts London makes the top 0.:rofl:rofl:rofl

My understanding is that they are in the low thousands now, maybe not even 20,000 actual members. Racism has changed with the face of the country. It's still there mind you, on both ends, but far more covert.

 

You're absolutely right. And the US is relatively safe in most places. I live in Jacksonville, which like our football team, is rarely mentioned with the big cities (though it has 1 million people and is I still believe the largest city in the country area wise) and we have like the 4th or 5th highest crime rate in the country for violent crimes. But almost all of those happen in a few areas....everything else is safe.

Thank you all for exposing your ignorance, as this has NOTHING to do with "gangs" or crime. Nobody "rioted" after Hamed-Kelly as that was not hooligan type event (and Hamed had his fans in NYC as well), and Hatton's family was never in danger because of what they said on TV.

What WAS the issue, is what would happen if football hooligans took their "rampage" on the streets. You don't need "gangs" or a crime-ridden neighborhood to justify what would happen next.

And by the way, the last time the KKK tried a public rally they were torn apart by mini-riots. Football hooligans in America would be viewed the same way.

 

I believe that Mexicans actually just passed Blacks as the largest population of minorities in the States. It may have been Latinos, or Hispanics (in the US, the way they word things, they think they are all the same).....don't quote on which. But one did pass Blacks....and very quickly too.

The part in bold is important....I'm a UK boxing fan and was always a massive Lewis fan too, but I'm not deluded enough to think had he stayed in England up to the age of 22-23 he'd have actually been as good a fighter as he was, we just don't have the boxing knowledge here, or the facilities.

Lewis is 100% English, no-one can argue that fact - but the reason he was such a great champion came with help from Canada and later on, America.

 

I just think the transatlantic travelling thing is a big disadvantage.

That's why I really respect the Cunninghams, Haglers and Alis. Those who did travel, more than the Hopkins, Mosleys, Mayweathers, RJJs.. etc.

As to why more top Brits don't settle in the US like Lennox did. It's because they don't want to! Despite the weather and bureaucracy. The UKs still a pretty cool place to live.

How many murders were their in the whole of England last year? Maybe 500? How many murders were there in the whole of the USA last year? 15,000.

NYC has a murder rate around 6 per 100,000 and thats the safest city in the USA lol. London has a murder rate around 2 per 100,000.

East LA, Brooklyn, Memphis, St Louis, Detroit, I could go on in on. There is no place in England even coming close to the level of violence these cities experience.

Hatton was in ****in Vegas. Let the Brits have pulled that **** at the Georgia dome in front of 10,000 rednecks and *****'s.

This "we're nastier than you" argument is pathetic on both sides in my opinion. The UK and the USA both have their fair share of criminals everyone knows that. The UK posters bragging about the UK fans booing the national anthem of our greatest ally and not getting beaten up for their troubles are just ****ing pathetic, and I'd like to hope that decent Americans would be disgusted by Americans if they came onto British soil and booed our anthems. Nothing to do with who's tougher or 'badder' it's just basic human respect. Hattons fans gave British boxing a black eye that night, they should have known better.
