Take a look at this picture. You'll see Calzaghe wearing a Jordan jersey(American sports hero), and a YANKEES hat. I'm not 100% sure who those boxers are in the background, but I believe they're American. What fighters did Papa Calzaghe try to mold Joe after? That's right, Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, and Muhammed Ali. Notice a theme here? That's right, Calzaghe has emersed himself in American culture. He's basically taken an American style of fighting and used it against a collection of mostly straight up and down Euros.

Most of those guys didn't stand a chance against Calzaghe with their basic, Euro fighting style. Kessler is a good fighter, but he's very stiff and robotic. He can dominate other straight up and down Euros, punching bags, and guys who should be fighting at mw. However, he'll always struggle against dynamic fighters with an American style like Calzaghe.

Editor's note: don't take this too seriously, I'm just having fun.

calzaghe would beat roy even if he were to dress as a highland sheep chewing on a leek whilst singing land of our fathers with one hand holding a poster of charlotte church and the other frantically trying to exspel his italian/welsh beans all over the green green valleys....

jones is so past it that he predates the jurassic period..

    WAR ,the welsh lad!

    TALLYHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

you do make an interesting point though... europeans and british (english especially) hold a very superior attitude toward everything american, but you can bet your bottom dollar theres no american boxer wearing a soccer jersey with pictures of tony sibson and colin jones up on the wall...

you can denigrate us but you still buy all our ****... just like the election coming up, everybody in the world is paying attention, but no american in their right mind knows or cares when the next british prime minister is getting elected... because your asses don't matter

Calzaghe is a fan of Hopkins. Watch 24/7 again. He and his sons are playing Fight Night on XBox and Calzaghe is fighting as Hopkins.

I don't know how serious this part of your post is but Calzaghe does not even have an "American style". You guys all criticize it.

It is not a style that can be sterotyped into a geographic region.

I know your taking the **** but you've a point. His dad was a big Ray Leonard fan and taught himself to train watching videos of him and Hagler. Lot of american influence on british trainers and fighters nowadays.
Also look at Ricky Hatton, hardly your typical euro fighter.
Whilst they may not be 'american' style, they're not traditional 'euro' either.

Hopkins disagree's- "Joe Calzaghe has a style that no one can keep up with, whether its slaps or whatever. It's not a style you see in America ".
