Why can boxers in higher weight divisions take more hits to the face/body etc

Was interesting watching Canelo Bivol yesterday. Canelo has been ruthless in his weight divisions, even when Canelo's shots are blocked, his opponents still feel his power.

Canelo didn't land much on Bivol's head but he got a few in, including a few uppercuts. These shots normally have massive amounts of impact, but against Bivol, it didn't do anything to him. He said afterwards he felt Canelo's power but wasn't affected by it too much.

I understand the body of higher weight division fighters is stronger, but not the face right?

No of course not. Everyone has the same size head even if you're 5'2" or 6'9".

Bivol's defense was on point and Clenelo caught him flush maybe once or twice. And Bivol's been conditioned at the higher weights and accustomed to feeling heavy shots from the likes of Joe Smith, Jean Pascal, etc..

    It's down to statistics

You are looking at a small percentage of boxers who are the cream of the crop

The weeding out process has already happened

The bigger the better is just how it is.

It's like having a kid punch you. You are stronger all over.

Canelo has probably got overconfident after sparring a bunch of big men who are D/E tier
