well said. The typical pac defenders will make excuses. It is much easier to fight going up in weight than down. Pac was at 140 and had to move 7lbs up to meet Oscar while Oscar who went up as high as 160+ against Floyd then Drops back down to 147 which he haven't fought at for many years. It was a fair catch demand but definitely in Pac's favor. At that time Pac isn't that highly rated but his demands became his edge after Oscar.
People don't realize that Pac has been asking for an edge or holds an edge for many occasions while Floyd have always tried to fight his opponent coming off wins and gives them an even playing field but fanboys will be fanboys.
Oscars fight before Pac was at 150 against forbes, so he came down in weight 3lbs Manny's fight was at 135, so he came up 12lbs. Thats why manny was such a huge underdog.
He was a huge under dog,but look at who knows the most here.. Freddie Roach,he trained Oscar and knew he was done, now training Manny this was his chance to make a name for himself by defeating him.. And it worked like a charm, then we see him fight a known cheater in Margarito, which was a good performance for a vacated belt, knowing the guy did not deserve a payday, but it got him an 8th title..
A lot of why Manny was a huge underdog is bc people just doesn't think he was that good. Oscar looked like crap against Forbes. He got his ass kicked for half of the fight which is another indication why he shouldn't go down further but he was thinking that he can score a big win against a smaller well known fighter and blew up on his face. Plus the catchweight was 145, not 147.
yeah, **** pac and the fact he was a former flyweight champ (112 pounds) vs DLH a former middleweight champ (160) :rofl poor oscar was only a 2-1 favorite vs the tiny midget who made his pro debut at 107 pounds.... :|
From what i remembered, Pac was +250 while Oscar was -360. Considering how bad Oscar looked and having to move down in weight, i considered Pac a big underdog.
