Well that would certainly explain how he looks so much leaner 3 years ago, 3 days before fight night as opposed to how he looks this year, 2 weeks from fight night.
You can look at 100 pictures of Canelo from this month and find ones where he'll look smaller and others about the same size. There are many idiots that are using a black and white image of Canelo from last year, probably for a magazine as proof he is so much smaller.
if you could get that type of improvement in 10 days, training camps would be 3 weeks long for every fight.
*36 Not trying to be a ***** and I'm sure someone else has already corrected it, but just in case. Agree with your general points by the way, though I don't think his stamina will really change. It hasn't previously to any real degree
The final two weeks of a camp are normally based around sharpening up and making weight; it's a key phase. In the 2108 clip he doesn't look like he's close to fighting weight but in the 2015 one, he does. I'm not saying the point you are making has no validity, but we are not comparing like-for-like. Even for a 12-week camp, 10 days is still quite a long time. As I say, let's see how sharp his tools are looking next week, in direct comparison with the video you posted from three years ago....
the last week, sometimes longer, is very light work and mostly recovery. you are letting your body completely heal because all the sharpening up and serious training has been completed. the 2015 clip, if taken when you believe it was taken, means ggg has gotten most of the work done and in a few more days will be on point and begin resting to heal up for fight night. the last 2 weeks are focused on healing and weight management, not sharpening your skills.
I disagree. All forms of sports training is about peaking for the day of competition. Not the day after, not the day before, it's highly scientific and specific. And of course, the major advantage of correctly tapering down to fight weight, is sharpness. At the risk of repeating myself, let's wait until video evidence from fight week. Your comparison fails to be scientific until then....
i disagree. this is a p4p fighter in the most important fight of his life, there will be no visible difference in performance in a 10 day period no matter which 10 days in the camp you pick, performance improvements dont happen like that at this level. ggg being slower today than 3 years ago is not going to change.
I have no doubt he will be slower, but until I see him at the same stage of his camp for this fight compared to three years ago, I'm gonna reserve judgement how much slower he will be. We only got a week to wait. Let's revisit then....
fair enough. ive been saying ggg has slowed too much to beat canelo for 4 months now, and i have only seen evidence to confirm my prediction, and nothing to challenge it since then. if i know what im talking about then canelo should win by about 3 rds, legitimately. thats what i see.
Agreed, I sense/fear the timing is right for Canelo too. I think we'll know for sure in the first two or three rounds. When it's gone, it's gone but that is only ever truly exposed in fights...
Well thank you. That supports my comment even more since 36 is older than 35. As far as stamina, I'm fairly certain we will see Canelo with better stamina. Almost immediately after the fight he and his team acknowledged that he was winded in the middle rounds. Based on his physique it is clear they are working on stamina and not packing muscle like in the first fight. It is common knowledge that more muscle mass requires more oxygen. I expect to see the best version of Canelo on Sept. 15th save an injury or a training mistake like over training.
