Why can't any present greats beat any of the past greats?

Why is that unlikely? Current training methods, injury treatment, nutrition, preparation is 100 times better than it used to be 50, 70, or a 100 years ago.

It's highly unlikely a champion from 100 years ago would even be a title contender today in his weight class.

Ray Robinson won 173 fights in his career... Sometimes fighting twice in less than a two week period... Fought 15 round fights with a same day weigh in. Who could do that today?

Bernard Hopkins is my favorite active fighter, but Teddy Atlas nailed it on the head when he basically told him that he's only competing at such a high level today because these young guys ****ing suck. :yep

Golovkin is a good fighter. Maybe the best MW in the world today, but based on actual accomplishments there are literally hundreds if not thousands of fighters who are greater than him.

    1. It's far more likely that you can find a historical champ who fits your ideal nationality/ethnicity in your preferred division, where as the current one is out of your hands.

    2. Always picking the historical fighter makes you seem "expert", well it doesn't, but dumbasses think it does.
