Yeah, compared to most African countries East Euros are rich :blood

    Per capita GDP
    Russia - 14,645; US - 54,980, 3.75X Russia.

Maybe you're watching too many movies showing rich Russian gangsters
Take away top 1-2% of Russian and US citizens and it will be about the same ratio for the bottom 98%. Like I said solid poor in the US is as good as "middle class" in much of Eastern Europe. Some of the smaller EE nations are doing better, but on average the US is much richer - for now.

All this time I thought that the boxers were humans, like the athletes in other sports

Absolutely, an endless source of absurd BS :D

Being poor doesn't have much to do with boxing, it's more about having proper infrastructure for the sport, coaching and tradition

Africa are the poorest continent money wise and produce the least amount of boxing talent per population too

Damn good point. Those sports have been enhanced by better health. In boxing there's another ingredient that can't be ingested: Bravery, and the will to win at all costs. That hasn't changed in 100 years.
I guess people respect boxers more 'cause they put it all out--some times their lives are on the line--Like Frazier, Louis and Marciano--
    you can't improve bravery

Robinson would've killed both Pac and Floyd, in back to back months while doing his tap dance routine in between fights. I'd take Ali over the Klit's as well, with him KO'ing Vlad and decisioning Vit. Ali's hand/foot speed nd overall skill would be too much for either. However Lewis & maybe even Holyfield would have beat him.

Only in boxe. Every other sport accepts, even if often not easily, that today's champion would beat past ones.

The exceptions are few, like for example some football fans arguing some past glory would still be the best, but looking at the datas, it is not the case.

Because all the old boxers were American and American boxing fans can not deal with Europeans and Asians who took the sport over, so they compare them to the old ones claiming no one could beat them.

It's the same like with football btw. Boxers these days are much better and Ali would be today the same level as Jason Gavern or Brian Minto. Imagine how Wlad would destroy all these old HW's in their prime today ..

Nice to see some written common sense on the subject:yep

For those idiots out there that think it's nostalgia...WE HAVE YOU-TUBE! God gave you a pair of fcukin eyes, go watch & compare, it's ai'nt the case no more of my dad saying Ike Williams would have thrashed Duran & me saying, yer, whatever dad, (just before he flattended me for being lippy) today we can see with our own eyes & make comparison. This nonsense about boxers today being better because of nutrition/sports science or whatever, sure that helps, but boxing/fighting is primordial & todays boxers/fighters are not on a par with those from yesteryear due to quit a few considerations that have already been mooted. 1) is definitely ACTIVITY!

Practice makes perfect as they say, but this sort of argument spews out with every generation, but unlike yesteryear..today we can see for ourselves by way of comparison on DVD/tape/You-tube & with this modern day blind mans loonie consensus that today is better than yesterday....I SUPPOSE THAT MAKES THE TRAINERS BETTER:lol:

It goes without saying that the likes of Mayweather/Pac/MAB/Eric/Jones/B-Hop/Toney/Wlad ect & a stack more could have competed in any era, but they would not have DOMINATED!

Today anyone can call themselves the best, the champ, as long as they are on TV & get public exposure, they are the worlds best, but don't bull-sh*t yerselves that todays PPV titans are a cut above the previous generation, that's just blind ******ation, actually it qualifies as *****!

I'm amazed at some of the stupidity voiced here regarding older fighters... "they wanted it more" that's absurd. You're going to tell me you took a poll of all fighters past and present and did some type of survey to quantify their desire and decided that the old fighters "wanted it more"

lol I've been laughing at these guys demanding that we be convinced that the bigger stronger faster athletes today would still lose to their heroes

There are fight fans today that put Their favorite modern day fighters up on the same pedestal they complain about old timers putting past fighters on. complaining about people going to one extreme while they themselves go to the opposite extreme.

yeah i hate how overrated old timers are. people overrate harry greb and he doesn't even have any footage. most past fighters(pre 80s) were horrible compared to today, there's only a few past fighters that would be top contenders if they fought in this era. guys from the early 1900s are overrated the most and they were really sloppy and unorthodox fighters(poor punch placement, poor defense, poor footwork, everything poor). it was pretty much just fighting with gloves on, it was a very poor display of what the sweet science is today. i think modern fighters poop on MOST past fighters with ease, it was just a huge learning curve back then, but those guys paved the way
