Why can't Ezzard Charles beat Foreman when Jimmy Young did?

    Charles could do everything Young could do. I don't think Young had much more physical strength than Charles and certainly wasn't a harder puncher. Why wouldn't he likely beat Foreman?

    Ezzard may have been able to do everything Young did. But he couldn't NOT DO everything Young WOULDN"T. And THAT is the measure of a true master...

    He's too small and Young was a pure outboxer where as Charles likes to come inside. Young weighing 210lbs, 6'2 with a longer reach. That's 20-30lbs and 2 inches in height. Young had a better jab and right hand too.

    He can but chances are against him. Just a if the best version of Foreman fought young over and over I’d wager foreman would get the better.

    Rough but pretty true.
    The comparisons among Charles and genuine HWs become more and more silly.....

    Like: Could Charles run the bicycle for 5 rounds like Byrd did against Ibeabuchi? :hang

    Charles is a better boxer than Young, better puncher, better speed, better ring general, better everything...etc.

    Regarding size. Young was maybe an inch taller or less, and roughly 20 pounds heavier with a very soft body. But is he stronger than Charles? I really don't think so. Weight doesn't always equate strength, especially a guy like Young who always seemed physically weak, soft bodied, and lacking punch. Charles was a solid 180+, held his ground with Rocky at points, and looked strong against much heavier men.

    I'd favor Charles that beat Louis significantly over the Foreman who lost to Young.
