P4P#1 for two years, where was Margarito on that list?

Better question is this, where was Margarito when Mayweather retired?

I'll answer it for you, running away from Paul Williams to fight Golden Johnson.

Before beating Cotto, that video was Margarito's career accomplishment in boxing. Hilarious, isn't it?

margarito and mayweather are cherrypickers....but i would have to say margo is the bigger cherrypicker cause floyd fought the best under 140 so i give him credit for that margo just fights little guys

but floyd still was a cherrypicker and u cant argue the fact u can say he wasnt a real welter yea he wasnt but thats irrelevent cause he was in that division he should have been fighting the best

cotto isnt a cherrypicker he wants to fight margo again after a devasting loss margo doesnt want to avenge a close UD to williams

williams wasnt cherrypicking but it seems like thats what hes into now but maybe its cause he cant get a fight we'll see but honestly like margo he rather fight small guys then men his own size

hopkins will fight anyone anytime anywhere and no one can say otherwise

Fair assessment. But downgrading Floyd to nothing. I cant get with that ****. I mean how much do you have to hate one person to ignore all of the **** he did do. And then big up Calzaghe..lol

Winky ducked margarito  you have really lost your rabbit ass mind fool..:patsch

Winky was quoted telling margarito as well as Arum that for 8 million dollars, the same money he was offering Floyd that he would spank margo's ass ..
Arum only offered half of that which was 3.5 mill and Winky said no go.. do you honestly think Winky would duck Margo at 154 ??? Margo is not even the same fighter at 154 winky would spank his ass at 154.

you idiot!!! you offer boxing humor as a way to back your claim , you ****ing ass clown get serious.

    Arum also said this

Arum said "while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million."

Reg.. you know as well as i do Hatton had all those accolades as a 140er. Do you honestly think Hatton would be the same guy if he fought @ 147 or that he'd still be seen as some top P4P fighter?

Hatton would not be anywhere near as succesful at 147. The reason for that is because he relies on his strength to a great deal. That style won't be as effective against bigger guys. However, Floyd is not a typical WW. Floyd started his career at 130, and had fought as many fights at 147 as he did at 140 before the Hatton fight. In fact, including the Hatton fight, Floyd fought 3 former JWWs at during his time at WW.

Floyd is not coming into the ring at Welter around 160 lbs. like many of the other top Welters. He routinely came into those 147 lb. fights at 147 or 148 lbs. This is basically the same weight as Hatton and many other JWWs come in at on fight night. Floyd was basically a JWW parading around as a WW. Hatton can't beat Floyd no matter what the weight. I would've picked the 135 lb. version of Floyd to beat Hatton on his very best day at 140.

Floyd and how he does at his weights or what weight he started isn't the topic. It's hatton. When you say "Floyd's last fight was against a prime, undefeated, top 10 p4p fighter." It's misleading. Hatton's prime weight is NOT 147. 100% of hatton's success came as a 140 fighter. You seem to be sugar coating hatton @ 147 to make him sound better.

But that is a good point you mention, Mayweather's 3 wins @ 147 came vs. Mitchell (career 140er), hatton (see Mitchell) and Judah (moving back to 140). Kinda give a realistic persepctive of mayweather's reign (or lack of) @ 147.

    .

You seem to be missing the point. Look at the title of the thread. Kirk remarked that Hopkins jus fought a prime, undefeated, p4p fighter. Now I think that's a great accomplishment. However, Floyd also just foought a prime, undefeated p4p fighter. Both Pavlik and Hatton were coming up in weight for their fights. So why is one guy chastised and one guy praised? My only answer to that is because people continually underrate Hopkins and continually look for ways to denegrate Floyd's accomplishments.

Floyd is not a true WW. His career will be judged by his unreal skill and ability to fight good comp in multiple weight classes. 140 was probably his limit in terms of a divsion in which he could dominate. However, he proved that he could compete at a high level at 147 and 154. It's sad that people continue to denegrate what is a truly great fighter. The same thing happens with Hopkins and Jones. These fighters can't do enough for some critics. No matter how much they do, there will always be a group of haters looking to tear them down.
