I love Floyd and Hopkins. Both terrific boxers and their ring intelligence is 2nd to none.
As a fight fan I would have liked seeing Floyd fight Cotto, Williams, Margo etc. Not because he had anything to prove (to me) but those fights could have great fights and I just feel a little robbed. To quote the famous philosopher Jagger "you can't always get what you want".

This has NOTHING to do with haters or anything Reg. I saw you state regarding Hatton and Floyd, "Floyd's last fight was against a prime, undefeated, top 10 p4p fighter."

Technically, you are right, but you and I know Hatton did NOT gain acclaim fighting @ 147, which is where he fought Mayweather. That's clearly untrue based on how Hatton looked BEFORE, and now after, Mayweather. Here I am clearly talking about Hatton @ 147, and you keep talking about Mayweather's accomplishments.

We're going circles Lance. Maybe you should read the whole convo in order to get a sense of the context of my statement. I'll try to explain it again. B-Hop is being praised for beat a young, prime, undefeated p4p fighter. Mayweather just did the same. Why does he not get the proper respect for this? Yes, Hatton came up in weight, but so did Pavlik. Ricky had a tough fight in his only other fight at Welter. Pavlik never fought at LHW and struggled with Taylor at 166(I scored the fight for Taylor) And once again, Floyd is a small welter. Size is why Hatton should stay at 140. Size was not a factor in that fight. Hatton couldn't beat a WW, JWW, or even a LW Floyd. Hell, SFW Floyd would give Hatton a run for his money.

Yeah, a little bit in circles. But I was talking strictly of Hatton and his status as a WW. What Pav or Hops or Mayweather did means absolutely nothing in terms of Hatton's ability @ 147, or his status in that weight class. You and I both know hatton would liekly lose to any top 5-7 WW.

Hatton who fought Mayweather loses to:

    Shane
    Williams
    Margarito
    Cotto
    Cintron
    Quintana
    (maybe) Berto

Maybe more just due to his size (lack of).

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone here. You're taking my comment, taking it completely out of it's context and are now trying to start an entirely different argument which has nothing to do with the point that I made. What's even worse is that I already said that I don't believe that Hatton could be a top fighter at WW because of his size. So you're basically arguing a position in which I don't disagree.

i think hopkins fights for glory and to large extent FINANCIAL REASONS!! you have to understand that hopkins was denied large paydays for years. he really wasnt appreciated much till he beat tito. unfortunately for him, he just recently within the last 5-7 years started getting good paydays. floyd on the other hand has made at least 50 mil probably in the last 2 years

Agreed Hatton not fighting floyd at 140 only delayed what was going to happen any way .. Same with Cotto ..

Very True , and yet a very young unproven champ like pavilic is the next best thing since sliced bread .

He's only made one true defense of his title at one 160 and beat a former champ who lacked confidence in his ability as fighter and yet he was praised as the next best thing in boxing.

Right Right ,, Calling out Cotto , Hatton , and Sugar shane is cherry picking .. He even gave margarito his chance but margaritio had to fight Gomez ..

and just who did Pavlic take risk from , the only reason they Picked hopkins is because they though Hopkins was an old push over , and he would be easy to KO..
