Pretty simple. It's because GGG wasn't willing to go up or down in weight. Could easily have more big names on his resume otherwise. Plus he was 30 before he started making a name for himself. Canelo started a lot earlier and was willing to move in weight (Maybe too much if anything).
1) Yes, he is trying to get a free payday which is why he still barked for a fight with Alvarez even though he held no title when they finally fought. 2) He never fought Cotto because Cotto wasn't an idiot to give someone who's biggest win was Ouma at the time a free payday. Cotto was the legit and official lineal Middleweight Champion. Again, only brainless easily deceived bumpkins think that someone who's biggest wins were absolute hopeless bums as "legit champ".
Well he fought Canelo twice plus Jacobs, Derevyanchenko, and Geale. Big drop off in quality after that, however. Those fights, minus Geale, each have plenty of folks out there that scored them against Golovkin... He is not a cash cow and got a late start. He never brought the piles of cash that made him very appealing on the risk/reward scale. He had a long undefeated stretch fighting some contenders and a fellow titlist. That is what he will be remembered for.

GGG is old and faded. Everyone is lining up because he’s slower and no longer the monster he once was. Still, he beat Canelo spindly in the first fight and at least tied him in the second. Prime steroid enhanced Canelo is pretty good. That’s not bad for an old past prime guy.
Its amazing is it? Only big name he has fought is Canelo. Never in the history of this sport has a boxer fought to very little competiion and talked up as much as GGG.
If; -There is no one in your division -You're complaining that you can't fight top fighters -You keep repeating that you will fight anyone between 154-168 -Fighters between 154-168 are willing to fight you... ...Perahaps you should put your money where your mouhth is and carve out your own legacy instead of waiting for people to give you handouts.
