Why cant Mayweather fight Pacquiao in the pocket?

Ortiz's type of aggressive is very much similar like Ricky Hatton, [minus the over extending clinches]. Manny doesn't put pressure on his opponents like that, he likes to have space after he throw his barrage of punches and that would favor Floyd more IMO. You have to be able to cutting off the ring properly when you're pressuring Floyd and that's something Manny cannot do well even though his footwork is great.

He doesn't get hit by the right hook as consistently as Manny gets hit by the straight right hand. I'd take my chances of Floyd getting hit by right hooks few times in a fight compare to Manny getting hit by straight right hand at a high consistent level for the whole fight.

This wasn't the best example, wrong gif. As i say, you need to look at how he uses his left hand at times against most of his southpaws opponents. Sometimes he'll use it as a measuring stick to blind them in order to sneak in his body punches, and he regularly throw the left hook when he isn't using his left hand to measuring them. But you have to pay close attention to see it for yourself.

Mayweather is a "safety first" boxer. He will not unnecessarily expose himself to punishment. You're right, one should not say he can't, because he is a skilled boxer. But you can expect that he won't, as fighting Pacquiao in the pocket poses too much risk. He would resort to jabs to throw Pacquiao off, and would clinch when they are close.

Floyd will walk him down, punish him in the pocket, and whatever else he decides to do. Manny Pacquiao isn't on Floyd's level. He gets frustrated way too easliy, he throws wild, he leaves himself off balance, he leaves himself open for all kinds of counter shots, and he's simply not the guy to rest your life savings on. Money Mayweather beats him silly en route to a KO, TKO, or a corner stoppage. Freddie Roach loves Manny too much to let him get punished round after round. Floyd will cut Manny in the 1st 4 rounds.
