Really annoys me thats its always shifted acround the schedule across the channels like its a show for some minor sport. I know they have to show as much speedway dirt bike bull**** as they can and theres always a bit of Super league that we need to skip past in the quest for something decent to watch! I just think withBoxing being a sport that Sky expect you dip further into your own pocket for come the big occasions they could show it some respect and give the show a regular slot. I mean bloody hell, Sunday supplement (which is just journalist eating croissants arguing at a table) gets a regular time during the football season!
It is a minor sport. The only times it gets into mainstream is on weeks like this when there is a fight with crossover appeal happening
Yeh, the speedway was awesome last week. I'm a bit fed up of Ringside anyway - actually, I rarely watch it. There's enough boxing magazine type programmes on the internet if you look for them without the bias of Sky's self promotion.
Unfortunately Mr Smith is right, boxing has been relegated to the 'minor sport' section of the publics mind, alongside Rugby League and even Speedway. Why do you think Sky don't show fights like Berto - Ortiz or JuanMa- Salido? It's not because they have an unfavourable bias towards boxing, itssimply because the public demand isn't great enough. People will get up at 4AM to watch England beat the Ozzies at cricket down under, but will rarely get up to watch even the best boxers on the planet. It's only when fights with a celebrity involved that the public get excited about. That's no disrespect to David Haye at all. Like him or not, he is a celeb first and boxer second which gets more people interested. If that get more people watching boxing, then we need more characters like him. Unfortunately, this isn't the 80s anymore
Inexplicably decided to wait until I move into my new flat to upgrade my Sky box, so working with your standard digital atm. I also think a set weekly slot would be beneficial in terms of the popularity too. If the casual fan knew for sure there was a show that would give them a run through of sorts on a weekly basis I reckon that although it may not be a religious following or a massive ratings winner but people tend to get more involved in things the more they know or are exposed to them. I dont know if this is the best explanation of the point I'm trying to get across but basically the more you know the more interested you will get...
:good I can not think of too many programmes I do not do this with now. Probably only live sport and it would have to be Leeds Utd, a big fight or an England game that I watch on time without pausing and fast forwarding through half time and the between rounds/boxing talk. Oh and this way I can fast forward through the adverts and Jonny Nelson on Ringside.
