How can Joshua have the best record in the division when his best win is an old, retiring, inactive Klitschko at Wembley, in a bout in which he went life and death, against a man who had been schooled 18 months prior to Tyson Fury? He was also battered senselessly by Andy Rice Pudding Jr, which drags his "CV" down into the gutter. Wins over old Povetkin who had just been dropped by Pricey, Tickling Takam, Pudding Pulev, Paint Dry, Maths teacher Molina, ***** Tits Breazeale, Injured Whyte and Gary Cornish don't exactly say much. All at home. Usyk beat a good heavyweight, but nowhere near the best in the division. Sorry, Mitch, but the numbers don't add up.
AJ beat the majority of the top HWs in Wald Povetkin, Whyte, Parker, Ruiz and Pulev. With other HWs in Fury, Wilder, Ortiz and Kownqcki turning him down and some cases multiple times. Losing to an unbeaten (really undefeated not gifted decision like Fury) Usyk who is greatest CW of all time and I believe will prove himself to an ATG at HW as well. Are you suggesting Fury is the Number 1? The only person Fury has beaten in over 5 year is a very limited and flawed Wilder who has a waffer thin resume (probably the poorest in the top 10) who himself only has beaten 1 noteworthy opponent in Ortiz whose most noteworthy wins have been against Jennings and Martin. Granted Fury has beaten better opponents than Wilder in Wlad and Chisora but these over 5 years ago but even when you consider them it falls very short in quality to AJs resume
This, the 1 world title should be the goal with being European or north American or south american etc champion should carry a lot of weight. My stance, same day weigh ins, 15 rounds for world title fights, 1 world champion with regional titles below, a fair system to determine contenders and #1 contenders, merge a couple of the weight classes (I'm looking at you 105 and 108), unified commission to uphold standards and straight up don't sanction promotions that try to skirt the rules. Pie in the sky stuff I know but not completely impossible.
Can you at least proof read what you write - it's filled with spelling errors that a simple spellcheck would fix. "Waffer" thin indeed.
Fury is undefeated, has been in competitive matches since he was 20 years old, has won every belt there is to win, has dethroned Klitschko and Wilder, away from home, and has demonstrated proficiency in a variety of styles. He is quite clearly the man of the division. After Usyk leathers Joshua again, Fury and Usyk will form the a phenomenal match for the ages.
Undefeated due to Terry O'connor in the first Mcdermott fight. Could also say he was extremely fortunate to have not been stopped against Wallin as many fights have been for lesser cuts. Clearly the man of division for beating one notable opponent in five years? That's like saying if someone beat Pulev 3 times and 4 guys outside the top 40 in 5 years that he dersves to the number 1 in the division. Although it's a bad comparison as Pulev has beaten better opponents than Wilder.
It's clearly tongue-in-cheek. There are talented fighters up and down boxing. That said, I've never gotten too amped about fighters who are "kings" over every "grown" man who only weighs 105 pounds. And then they expect headlines, accolades and more belts if they beat another grown man who weighs 108 pounds. In many ways, that is also comically ludicrous. Do you know any grown men in your own life who weigh 105 pounds who like fighting? If so, would he look at another grown man who weighs 108 pounds and say "He's too heavy for me to fight?" No. It's nonsensical. And there are 10 CHAMPIONS between 105 pounds and 108 pounds. 10 CHAMPIONS. Let me repeat that. 10 champions from 105 to 108. 10 grown men who call themselves boxing World champions who weigh 108 pounds OR LESS. C'mon.
Weight classes should be the weight you weigh in on fight night. With rehydration these small difference weight classes are pointless since some fighters are coming in out weighing guys by 20lbs anyway.
Yes. This is answer. The diference in category to be 1.36kg / 3lbs ( 4 categories) or the difference in category to be 1.82kg / 4lbs ( 4 categories) that is ridiculous. Eight traditional classes + cruiserweight.
I would probably get rid of both. But the point was, less divisions increases the value of the world championships.
