Why can't we produce a fighter that can slip punches?

Graham, Eubank and Benn were extremely evasive.

Uh, the fact that he was so aggressive was the reason he got hit so much, how about when he gave Paulie "master boxer" Malignaggi a boxing lesson? There was a sequence in that fight were Hatton landed a two punch combo, made Paulie miss a three punch combo, landed a counter jab, made Paulie miss twice more, and landed a double body shot combination, all in one fluid motion

Did "the next big thing in boxing" Adrian Broner slip a single Malignaggi punch in those 12 rounds?

Hatton had great footwork and Collins was Irish, which is something the Brits can't seem to get through their heads, just because he fought a lot in Britain, didn't make him British, and the Irish amateur fighters have always been exceptional thank you very much

Collins actually had very good lateral movement against Tony Thornton, and could slip.

    Britain don't produce slicksters.

Our guys are more orthodox, doing most of the basics well.

It's great to watch a boxer slip punches, it's another thing to make the opponent
    Pay, Paul Butler does both

Honeyghan used to slip punches until he faced Magic Man Marlon Starling.

    Give it a rest, Billy.

Slick as they come? Galahad is the only of those that I would say has a reasonably slick style and he's British level.

We don't produce guys like those I listed earlier (Toney, Mayweather, Sweet Pea, Hopkins even Ward/Dirrell). As per another post, pro-rata we don't produce anything like the American's do when it comes to the art.

We are all huff and puff, fight in straight lines, reliant on good engines and big hearts. This is obviously a generalization and whilst there's nothing wrong with having those strengths, it's the lack of evasiveness that generally lets us down at the very top level.
