Why can't Wlad just avoid his mandatory?

Look at Mayweather and Pac, when was the last time they fought a mandatory? they just fight whoever the hell they want, a priviledge that comes with being a megastar, Wlad is the HW megastar, are you telling me he cant just simply tell Thompson to **** off?

Nobody wants to see this shitty pointless match, Wlad is gonna destroy him again and we all know it, if you're just gonna send a lamb to the slaughter at least send a different one ffs!

C'mon Wlad, why cant you just DUCK this loser you already beat and move on to better things? Nobody will care if you do, in fact, everyone (except Thompson, but screw him) will be glad you did.

my question is who else is ready and willing for the July 7 date? and at least Wlad promises a fall fight so that would be 3 times this year

and in ways the way Manny and Floyd duck mandatories is a little criminal though the fights would be pointless

I think it's because PAC and May have so many different options unlike wlad. They can jump in weight classes to chose opponents. Wlad can't. If he chooses to duck his mandatories then he will be stripped of his belts. And I believe his goal is to be undisputed which is hard if you don't have the belts

Mayweather will vacate belts because, as he's said, he doesn't need a belt to define his greatness.

Pac also has so much going on that he would probably vacate a belt rather than be forced into a fight he didn't want.

There is also the option to pay step aside money.

Wlad on the other hand, has basically cleaned out the division. Aside form Povetkin (who won't fight Wlad), Adamek (a possible opponent who was busy with Vitali recently) who is out there who is better and more ready than Thompson?

Sadly, nobody. Arreola possibly...but we all know Arreola loses that one.

    Fury isn't ready.
    Helenius isn't ready.
    Pulev isn't ready.

    Chambers has already been beaten.
    Haye has already been beaten.

He's got the same problem Mayweather has, there just isnt anything competitive out there for him.

    Is this a serious thread?

He's unified nearly all the belts. He's not about to give up a title to give some other guy, who will no doubt avoid him like Povetkin and his fake title, a chance at "legitimacy" by fighting for a title he's vacated by ignoring a mandatory. Haters would also bash him for "ducking" his mandatory, even though they'd call Thompson a bum today. It's not comparable to Mayweather/Pacquiao who can fight in multiple divisions where there are generally 3 or 4 titles available through 3 or 4 different fights, some for vacant titles.

By the way, I'd rather see him fight than collect dust waiting for someone he hasn't already beaten. Staying active is always better than doing jack ****.

It's a shitty fight but I don't blame Wlad for taking it. What's the alternative? Give the belt up so some opportunistic loser can claim a piece of the pie and earn undeserved paydays under the guise of "World Champion", whilst Wlad himself gets called a ducker and a coward for his trouble? Screw that.

And vacate a title! I don't think so. He really should gracefully bow out. There is no one else for him.

Except increasing his number of title defences.

    Why should he?

Payday, ranked opponent, keep his belt. Noone obvious is being bypassed here.

Wlad's legacy is defined by longevity. He has no defining or 'great' wins, however he has been consistent in his dominance. The longer he dominates, the greater his legacy. It's not like for instance Ali, who has defining wins over Liston, Frazier, Foreman and Norton. So whilst Ali didn't dominate the division the way Wlad has, Ali has defining wins. Wlad has none, however he has dominance.

Problem is, if he dominates Mitchell, possibly ruining him for the rest of his career like so many others, Mitchell becomes "another undefeated hypejob" who lost his 0 to Wlad. It looks better if Wlad struggles with him, wins, and Mitchell, undamaged, goes on to have a very good career beating everyone who isn't a Klitschko. If Wlad beats the **** out of him with jabs and right hands, ending it after 11 and ruining Mitchell, he was just "bum of the month" material. How broken is that? Catch 22. He's too dominant to lend any competition credibility, and many boxing fans are so clueless they don't give him extra credit exactly for that reason.
