Why can't you admit that the Klitschko brothers would give Ali huge problems?

Sanders was a contender with a good record & a great punch, stop fooling yourself.

That's a great post. I still think Ali would've beat either Klitschko. Ali showed toughness that is not easy for any heavyweight of any era to match. Plus, he had great hand speed and underrated power to go with it. The guy almost never sat down on a punch and still stopped guys. Believe me, I get sick of hearing about Ali in boxing media when they attempt to cover historical fights. It's like he's the only guy they remember or give credit for being great.

Both are deceptively quick and accurate too.

These guys are trying to make like the Klitschkos are the same level as Primo Carnera & Jess Willard which simply isn't true. They'll say Wlad is no better than Gerry Cooney or Frank Bruno.

Are the Klitschkos fat? Because that is what this thread is about.

Are you aware the Ali of from 60's nearly lost on points to Doug Jones, had fits with Midenberger, and let a plodder like Chavalo give him some rough moments?

The truth is Ali always had trouble with good jabbers, and either Klitschko is a tough fight for him.

ALi busts them both up, having a much harder time with Vitali

Is it that hard to say that quality fighter A would have trouble with quality fighter B? The Klits are both skilled, huge and always in shape. They would likely pose a problem to any quality HW (I'm assuming here a Lewis-era VK and a post-Steward WK). To say otherwise is crazy.

    I wouldn't bet on them vs. a pre-Manilla/post '65 Ali but it sure as **** isn't a gimme fight.

It'd be a treat if people judged on boxers rather than their fans. Hell, if I can manage to give Calzaghe credit, others should be able to look past fanboys.

Ali in his prime would torture and torment both Klitschko's a la Ernie Terrell. Wlad's timid girl guide like jab he opens with of late might make Ali fall down from laughing but first good shot Ali lands its Nite Nite Wlad.
If Vitaly survives training camp he'll quit on his stool in 5 or 6

Yea i agree, no question i could see wlad an vitali going to the hospital after the fight, ali got a sold jaw, an as many times as it will hit the bro.s fist, will no question cause some checking on after the fight, not the same night attention that ali would need, just like brewster (even after his victory) byrd, sultan, brock, rahamam, an countless others,,,how many did ali send to the hospital, i bet alot of money, not as many as wlad or vitali:hi:

Hasn't anybody asked Ali himself (unless his health issues prevent it - I'm not sure).
Has anyone asked Foreman or Tyson or Lewis?
It's possible their egos could get in the way, but it would be interesting to poll former pro boxers who still follow the sport rather than fans without the inside knowledge.

I read an interview with Lewis where he said that Wlad's right was 'about the same' as his. That's about the humblest I've heard Lennox get about Wlad, but I haven't heard much of his commentary.

There was a youtube vid of Tyson dissing Vitali over the Byrd incident (saying fighters aren't the same anymore) but that was circulating around the time Tyson quit against McBride

The heavies today have enormous physical advantages due to nutrition and training that's for sure. As well as video tools for analysing opponents, and their own, strengths and weaknesses.

You can't however, train heart, chin and willpower.

Where the old time guys DO have a real advantage however, is experience. Guys fought a lot more than modern fighters, and at a consistently higher level.

Wlad may have had a large number of fights, but about 80% of them were hand fed tomato cans (not even ham'n'eggers ;) ) just to give him confidence and get his record up.

Old timers were in competitive fights all the time, which is why they knew instinctively how to react in certain situations (getting hurt, hurting a guy etc).

Having those instincts ingrained is much better than having to 'think' about it.

You can see that in Wlad. There are times when he's quite obviously 'thinking' about what to do next. Old timers just did it...

Sanders had explosive power in the first round or two of his fights but his stamina was bad. I thought he legitmately sat Vitali on his ass(ruled a slip), but I was at a bar that night and haven't seen it since.
