It's amazing how few people seemed able to figure out that the title of this thread is just a fun way to say "look at how awesome this knock down is" It almost instantly went from arguing about Retzlaff's techinique to arguing about the term Check Hook.
Sorry guys i didn't catch on when i saw the original post either. I was thinking hmmmmm i thought his name had been established as Kevin You guys would never offend me anyway i have loads of respect for both of you.
Olivares is the perfect example of a true hooker. I studied him for ages regarding hooks. He did the movements you describe so fluidly I initially did it the wrong way (with the pivot) to try emulate the movement, until my dad corrected me.
Pretty sure 'check hook' is some regional dialogue thing, similar to slang belonging to certain areas . All the old school guys here in England that I have met and trained with, including my dad, didn't call it that, but would give it a separate class such as 'long left hook' whilst showing you the movement. If it helps you to learn, then why not call it that?
100% true! We live in the land of snowflakes now Robert. Check hook. Kangaroo punch. Back foot. Etc. Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin have left the building my friend and been replaced by The View
Great posts Bob. Young generation needs their names and punchstats. Like it's baseball. Could you imagine going to a neighborhood bar with these guys; you order a pitcher of beer, they ord e r an appletini and ask for a menu. Eastwood said it best 10 yrs ago. We are in a ***** generation. Lol
I think Bob forgot more about boxing than you will ever learn Snowflake Sanders. He is pummeling you. Or "check-hooking" you to death
