I can answer your question pretty easily. There are a couple reasons.

    1) Povetkin is in decline now. Realistically, he's got 4-5 rounds to stop Usyk. We saw him tire after 4 or 5 rounds against Joshua. Usyk, on the other hand, steps up his attack after 4 or 5 rounds.

    2) Nationalism. Russia and Ukraine aren't friends. Usyk almost certainly wins this fight. This is a big money fight if it's held in Russia - but why would they make such a fight if their man is going to lose? They would not. And they won't.

Povetkin can still make decent money - but it's going to be as a gatekeeper for the next wave of Russian prospects or possibly serving the same role for Joe Joyce, Hrgovic, etc.

He`d have to weaken himself severly and would lose power due to his biceps shrinking.

Povetkin didn`t tire v AJ he was outsmarted, AJ kept throwing to the body getting Povetkin used to this then made him think he was going to the body when he threw a jab downstairs, Pov defended against the body shot leaving himself open to the right hjand that sent him crashing but Usyk don`t have tat kind of power and we don`t know if Usyk can take the kind of shot that Pov knocked Takam out with.

    Fair points.

AJ did set up Povetkin smartly. I completely agree, although I stand by my observation that Povetkin was tiring.

I don't think Usyk has Joshua's power. But his fight against Bellew shows he does have power in both hands and he'll gain some power when he moves up to HW.

Povetkin still has excellent power, but I don't see Povetkin landing anything like that first round three-punch combo he landed against Joshua on Usyk - let alone the huge shots he hit Takam with when the two of them were in a phonebooth fight. Usyk can keep Povetkin off of him in the early rounds and use him as a punching bag in the 2nd half.

Good video , most saw Povektin beating AJ with hooks and right hands and they'd be right since varied punching beats jabs all day. But AJ just stabbing to the body was a tactical infinitive that paid off pretty early in the fight , cos as soon as Pov dropped dropped his guard he was taken out out. Clean. On the spot.
I think AJs boxing skills and IQ is pretty underrated
