Why come Liston didn't get a title shot against Frazier in the late 60s

I think this has been a good thread with some very interesting primary sources posted. Too many getting pissed off, though.

Yeah, it’s a very good thread.

I stepped back for a bit so as to not overstate or repeat myself, taking up too much air time.

Didn’t step back long enough you say? Probably true.

Great to hear other and all opinions.

I’ll just duck my head back in “briefly”.

Both Solomon and Klomp have provided valuable primary sources, as I hope I’ve already made clear and with my due appreciation (and I’m sure everyone else feels the same).

More broadly, in terms of analysing the info, one must still critically think and ask due questions for themselves and not be swayed by any undue prefacing for the supplied info.

In boxing, negotiations can legitimately break down without it meaning any undue disinclination from either party. It happens.

At the same time however, disingenuous orchestrations can be made for various reasons - with alleged offers either being frivolous or not having been made at all.

Rarely you’ll get an arms length third party corroborating claims that are essentially only made by one party or the other - and that’s what amounts to many of your not so concretely reliable primary sources.

If you want to make a slanted case, you might only provide articles that support your argument and overweight the legitimacy of the claims therein - treating every word as gospel while unevenly dismissing articles containing like counter claims as fake news.

I wonder if there are quotes available from
Durham in regards to his views on Liston’s viability as at the time and whether he ever entertained the possibility of Frazier ever fighting Sonny?

Btw, anyone know why Klomp was banned and for how long? I didn’t see him writing anything necessarily worse than usual.

A bit of heat isn’t the end of the world and he usually isn’t one for protraction - the latter being the real killer.

I can honestly repeat I didn’t get pissed off - but I will return in kind sometimes - some light verbal sparring we might call it. :D

Damn, I wish you hadn’t said the first bit.

I will agree, however, that there is a lot of fat Earthers around today, a lot more than there used to be.

Perhaps too much weight for a mere flat Earth to hold.

Maybe the flat Earth is already beginning to bow in the middle and elsewhere being under greater weight - perhaps that’s the only reason for flat Earther’s otherwise meticulous calculations and cross references being thrown out?

Greater weight in individuals naturally makes for even greater weight in numbers, I guess.

    Take that as you will.

I wonder what % of flat Earthers are fat Earthers also? There maybe an outstanding, irrefutable correlation. Who knows?

Amazing where one’s thoughts can meander to, yielding even more questions than answers.

Thanks for the diversion. Back to normal programming.

Have no idea what Klomp was banned for but it seems permanent. I'm not shedding any tears over here.
