Why Cortez took a point

he tried to give Khan a little elbow. Should have just gave him a warning.

 

thats how badass maidana is we all hate cortez and he elbowed him well done marcos

 

but seriously a warning would have been nice i think the point deduction was too much

 

Maidana didn't help his own case by trying to cheapshot when Amir wanted to touch gloves at the opening bell.

 

well it wasnt one of those muay thai elbows, it was a frustrated nudge.

naughty but he didnt put any power into it, a kick to the balls would be different.

 

Cortez was doing everything he could to help Khan.
Every single time they were in close he broke it up.
He tried like hell to keep this fight in the middle of the ring.
He separated them whenever he could.
He blows.

 

It was the intent, even without the point deduction I still have Khan winning.

Throwing elbows, punching behind the head. Trying to cheap shot when touching gloves... I think Maidana can spare himself and tears for losing a point.

He took a point away for a punch that never even landed. Cortez took a point away from Hatton for accidently hitting a ring rope with his glove! No joke, watch Void Vs. Hatton. He also helped Void out, keep Hatton from fighting on the inside. I would never want Cortez as a ref for me.

 

Haters need to get together and make sure they're putting out a consistent message. We got half you saying Cortez allowed Khan to hold too much and half saying he seperated them too much...

 

shows what an expert you are. cortez broke them at the wrong times, like when maidana had a free hand and was punching cortez would come stop the action unnecessarily. then when khan was holding for dear life and the action was stopped cortez would be slow to break them. but more importantly did not warn him or threaten to take points. effectively allowing khan to survive by running and holding.

holding is actually illegal as much as elbows , head buts and low blows. it is what makes for totally **** fights like ruiz, hatton, or fights like berto vs urango and is simply a substitute for lack of defensive skill. it needs to be cracked down upon badly, ths aint the ufc.

and cortez should be fired he is a terrible ref either corrupt or totally incompetent. his screwed up many big fights in recent memory. i wished that elbow had connected his face and broke it

 

Just watch the fight.
He jumped on every clinch and separated them.

 

Not to mention the constant hitting on the break up till that point deduction.

That's what I thought cost him the point till I saw the replay.


Maidana is a dirty little ****.
