I think you very well could be right, but my biggest concern of the two fighters is that they both were a lot like 2 oast fighters. Cotto carried an aura of immortality- he'd punch through your biggest shots, he knocked out like 85% of his opponents, he would take your biggest shots and not even mis-step coming forward with his own. This was a LOT like tyson...Now, after Tyson lost that invinciblity aura, People realised, "Hey, I can beat this guy" or "Hey- I can outlast or hurt this guy." And people were less intimidated of him. With Pavlik... Bhop showed the world a systematic way to beat Pavlik. Pavlik seemed all the rage until he fought a wisened Bernard Hopkins. I fell into the same pit a lot of people did. I thought - there is no way old bernard beats this guy... but the more experienced fighter won that day and my fear for HIM is that his loss may be similar to a similarly hyped fighter in Jeff Lacy. Again, going into his fight with Jcal, I thought "Man... I've seen Lacy knock out some stiff competition, he is going to walk through this next dude.... he's young, strong, has momentum..." But Jcal showed a way that you could shut out this guy. Since then, Lacy has been off the charts (albeit in part due to a shoulder injury) Still... I think Jeff Lacy was very good at one thing as is Pavlik. I think we will see Pavlik recover with 2 pr 3 more fights and don't expect him to fight slick/smart style fighters anytime soon. Time will tell if other people can put the great Bhop formula to use on Mr. Pavlik and exploit his style for their own victory.
