Pavlik lost to hopkins because his style has no chance against hopkins. His style is the same as tarver, and trinadad. Weight didn't matter, style mattered. He is a 1-2 stalker that can't fight going backwards. ANYONE BERNARD FIGHTS WITH THAT STYLE WILL LOSE AND LOSE BADLY. Doesn't matter if bernard is 121 years old.
As my haters know, I watch fights back to back to try and gage outcomes. I watched the Taylor/Pavlik 2 fight along with Ornales/Rubio several times. I never did get to see the Ornales/Hopkins fight, but tell me after watching the first two back to back if a healthy Pavlik does not do better against Bhop than Ornales did. Ornales/Rubio showed me a clear cut difference in class, especially speed between Pavlik and O/R. To answer your question though? :rofl Martinez will get seriously downgraded, nothing else.
But Taylor is out of breath by 7 rds- he cant keep the pace,we all know that im not a Pavlik hater,no way,i love the guy and iam not biased ,im not from argentina, but just saying my point of view. its why i say, keep lara away from martinez.
If it goes long enough, you will see that avoiding decapitation takes a toll on you also. Martinez will wear down if the fight gets to the later rounds. My best assessment anyhow.
Well -- since I have anyalized this fight six ways to Sunday, and made several posts on just exactly why Pavlik wins, I do know EXACTLY what Martinez would have to do to beat Pavlik. 1: Keeps his ****ing hands up!! That low guard is one of my pet peaves!. Unless your name is Ali, Jones, Leonard, or Hearns, keep your god damn hands up!! 2: Stop being so predictable with the right hook. 3: Stop telegraphing the lead left from 3 feet out. 4: Develop a much better jab. 5: Stop eating right hands like you thought they were a snack food! 6: Learn to clinch. 7: Stop rushing in face first and learn to work in behind behind a good jab and clever footwoork. The long and the short of it is that folks who are willing to watch Martinez against Margarito, and then immediately watch the williams fight, will see that Sergio still fights exactly like he did 10 years ago. The chances of him dropping all his bad habits in one training camp are pretty slim.
Yes he did!! I would not be comfortable betting on either man in a rematch. I think it is a true 50/50 affair. However, Pavlik and Williams do not have much in common. They're both tall, aggessive, throw a lot of punches, and have very good stamina. Beyond that, the differences are far greater than the similarities.
Man I was way off on this one. Martinez is a damn good boxer. Don't forget Margarito walked through the guy in 2000.
