Why couldn't a one dimensional fighter be the best fighter in the world?

Hypothetically, say you have this fighter who is much faster or much more powerful than anyone else, or much more skilled or much more versatile or the much better ring-general or the much better defensive fighter. Why couldn't that fighter be the best fighter in the world if he kept on winning against the best opposition out there time after time? In fact, how could that fighter NOT be the best fighter in the world if he kept on winning against the best opposition out there time after time?

Well, first of all Pacman is not one-dimentional. Pacman has a very good chin, he is very fast, he is very powerful and he is very unpredictable. One dimentional, he definitely is not. This thread is not about Pacman, though, but about one-dimentional fighters.:good

Exactly Pacman isn't one dimensional, a one dimensional fighter is someone like Ricky Hatton who can only fight on the inside.

The best fighter has more than great offense. There are many more aspects to the game than that. Pac has not alot to fall back on, if someone negates that, and therefore he can't be the best.

Marquez didn't find him unpredictable. When Pac faces another good counter pucnher with good timing, he'll lose or get another gift decision.

Why couldn't the bes fighter in the world just have great offense, if that offense was so good that it would be enough to beat everyone with it?:huh

Being 1-dimensional is often considered to be a bad word, it's not. It's better to be great at a few things, than being half-arsed at a wide array of things. However, it's better to be very good at alot of things, so you can mix it up, if someone figures you out.

Marquez wouldn't have gotten floored a couple of times if Pacman had not been unpredictable. Some punches, JMM didn't even see coming! By the way, there aren't that many better counterpunchers with good timing than JMM out there, you know, Max!;)

Witter has decent timing In his counter punching there are many.

    Prime Hamed would spark Pacquiao.

I bet you will cry when Manny falls down from a rib crushing Hatton shot.

Because you can't beat everyone just by having great offense. Look at Vasquez and Rafael Marquez.

Because having great offense only will mean you will be receptible to being hit more often. And if someone have greater power than you, you will likely be KO'ed sooner or later. If someone negates your offense, then you are in deep trouble.
