Why couldn't Dawson outbox Pascal when Froch could?

Pascal kept improving in these 2 years. Because of the loss to Froch and where he fights from he went largely under the radar and a lot of people didn't know wtf they were talking about when calling him a bum against Dawson. I think Pascal gives Froch a much stiffer if there's a next time.

 

Some fights his jab looks good. Other fights it doesn't. In the first fight with Tarver, he was slicing the guard with his jab and working around it. I'll have to revisit some of his other fights, but tonight it looked lazy for sure. There were a lot of things he could have done better tonight.

Styles.

 

Style makes fight

 

It is a combo of a lot of things.

1. Being that people disprespect Froch for being a **** fighter, yet he is 26-1 with 20 KO's. He does get a bit of a bad rap on here, and is at times slightly underrated.

2. Pascal fought a better/smarter fight in this fight vs the Froch fight. Pascal was slugging it out with a slugger, and got the worse end of all the punches connected.

3. Froch was at home vs Pascal, Pascal was at home vs Dawson. Having loud, and supportive fans goes a long way. I think Froch would have beaten Pascal anyway, but just having the supports behind really gave him that extra boost. Same thing happened to Pascal vs Dawson. Pascal wasn't looking too good towards the end, but anytime he moved forward and moved his hands the crowd would explode. That is a real a adrenaline boost, and it really showed towards the end, where it looked like he would go down, but he didn't and showed heart in there and not wanting to dissapoint his fans

4. Weight. Weight could have been an issue for Pascal. May'be he was having a bit of trouble making weight for 168. So, may'be at 175 it just feels stronger and doesn't have to cut down too much.

5. Pascal just had a great gameplan and Dawson just didn't look like he had a 5th gear.

Pascal also has a much better chin at the higher weight. Improved punch resistance is a good sign that moving up was the right thing to do.

 

The injury may have been more severe than he let on. Also, the extraordinary home-court advantages enjoyed by Pascal may have taken a psychological toll on Dawson that people aren't willing to talk about.

 

#3 is an excellent point. The home crowd kept him on his feet in the 11th round.

 

Dawson never was a fighter who likes to go to a war, always trying to be technical, hit without getting hit. Froch on the other hand likes trading and standing before an opponent with his hands down, it doesn't matter how much leather he eats because he's delivering some too in return, and knows he can take it, and is confident he can take what his opponent can't...

It's such a shame people are not giving Froch the credit that he deserves
