:think ive never seen anything like it. if he let his hands go he most likely would have knocked fury out
Wlad is methodical and doesn't like throwing unless he believes he has a good chance of landing. It was the head movement, upper body movement, footwork, and angle variety. Fury befuddled Wlad like a mongoose does a king cobra. :smoke
He is pushing 40, he is prone to having a bad night. Fury, due to his nutter act, and his team don't get their due for how sharp they are. They had a good game plan and the big guy used his tools and executed the plan.
Combination of things. Father time, Fury's game plan, loss of instinct. I find it weird really, the young Wlad who got sparked by Sanders would of destroyed Fury, but I think the Manny Wlad would always of had issues with what Fury presented that night. Tho I feel he would of won a few years back still. Ah well, I'll always love Wlad and give him all the props for his domination. Time will be kind to him and he'll go on to be regarded as an ATG.
If you watched Klitschko vs. Jennings, then you have seen something like it before. Difference was Jennings took the fight to Wladimir physically so he was hit by the pitty-pat flick jabs. Fury fought on the back foot away from Wladimir, thus was not hit by them. Strategic advantage to Fury there.
Styles make fights and I agree that offensive Wlad would have put a shellacking on Fury. This version of Wlad is always going to struggle with Fury.
Mixture of his cautiousness, Fury's movement, perhaps Wlad just being older. I'm not-so-sure as to the age factor as to why he didn't pull the trigger. It's more like he's just not as fast when be does pull the trigger, as opposed to just not being able to pull it due to reflexes being slowed. Not being able to pull it is more of a sign of being a shot fighter, as opposed to being just slower of hand when you do let it go. I think Wlad has slowed down but I don't think he's a shot fighter.
Some people are saying that he got old overnight etc, but I'm not buying that at all. It was all psychological. Tyson broke him mentally before they even got to the ring. All the signs were there. The shaved hair, the glove stipulation, sparring Vitali. Tyson intimidated him with his confidence. For the first time in a very long time, Wlad was facing a guy who genuinely believed he was going to win. Wlad has never ever gotten over those early knockout losses. Manny rebuilt him, and he turned him into a safety first fighter who was terrified of exchanging. For years he leant on smaller opponents, rather than displaying any in fighting abilities. This fight was a huge shock to him. With a different mindset, he'd have beaten Tyson comfortably in my opinion. It's a joke that he was so standoffish when Tyson has zero power, and Wlad has genuine one punch knockout power in either hand.
