Paul "Hurricane" Briggs was a 3 time World Muay Thai Champion. He retired at age 22 then after a few years of being an underworld leg braker and heavily into drugs and DJ ing he decided to try traditional boxing. He was WBC number one ranked for a long time. Adamek was the bigger better man huge heart.
Paul Briggs is best friends with Australia's Greatest ever Muay Thai fighter John Wayn Parr. This makes him kind of the Chuck Norris to Parr's Bruce Lee. They trained together for many years from early teens.
Paul may have left his best behind him before the first Adamek fight. Muay Thai and drugs can take it out of a person.
