i know its a straw man argument

if anything rugby has a better argument for taken away talented big men. It only became pro in the mid 90's and rugby players are usually the heavyweight size, have great stamina ,endurance and toughness more so that nfl/nba players

however id never use an argumen even that ridiculous for saying we dont produce good heavyweights

True. In Europe, you have only one very popular sport (soccer), whereas in America boxing has to compete with the following sports that are very popular: football, baseball, basketball, hockey, MMA.

Horse racing and Doritos have also robbed the United States from producing the next Willie Pep.

The decline of the U.S. talent pool has been happening for about 60 years. We produced stars, so nobody really cared until other countries caught up in the heavyweight division and took control.

Look at Olympic basketball. A lot of other countries have caught up to the American teams. A lot of it is just evolution of the sport.

Not really we dominate the sport to this day. When we sent B level teams we lost when we sent our best we win easily. 2008 & 2012 are examples of this.:deal

You look at when Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield were ruling the 80's/90's roost and making $20-$30m a fight, way more than NFL or other US sports, that should have been the bedrock for the next gen to come out of the US gyms and carry it forward, but instead we had Lewis and then K2 who between them cleaned out the whole US scene to the point it is now - stagnant. The US fighters who filled the void were not terrible, just outclassed by K2. I think the same might happen with Joshua although it's early days.

    What tosh.

In tiny little Britain they have Rugby ( same as Murica's football but without the chlidren's padding ) Rounders ( baseball with a shorter bat ) Netball ( basketball but for girls ) plus Football ( the clue is in the name FOOT, i:e, non use of the HANDS ) and Cricket.

They let the girls play the Netball ( Basketball ) and the Rounders ( Baseball ) because those " sports " are better suited to girls.

As for Football, all the sports in Murica combined do not generate either the following or the money in that one truly World game.

Lets not even bother with driving cars. Muricans only seem to be able to go round and round an oval. A Grand Prix circuit appears to completely confuse them.

As for the less important " sports " there seems to be a Murican ranked at 17 in the world tennis rankings. Does that far down the list even matter?

At golf they seem to be better with 5 out of the top 10 being Murican's, but the #1 appears to be British, so hardly world domination there.

the rest of the world the biggest sport is soccer, not too many if any heavyweights would play soccer, over here the biggest sport is football and the majority of football players would weigh in at heavyweight...you do the math.

yup but tons of 140-154 guys are playing soccer, the only divisions where america do very well:good

and your forgetting about sports such as rugby union, rugby league, gealic football, aussie rules etc

rugby produces better boxers than american football, you do the math

Agree. No matter how big and bad you are nobody wants to get punched in the face for a living when they can do something else and make more money.

The scores are much much closer and there was no reason for any of our teams to lose but they did.
