Don't even see the problem, the fight wasn't happening before anyone with a working brain could realise this, Ward was too risky who didn't bring much more than guys at 160. But now GGG said after Kovalev if he wins they wouldn't mind fighting Ward, so what's the issue?

exactly the fight was never really a big option but i can possibly see this fight happening in the future

ward gets knocked out by kovalev he might move back down because he knows the biggest money fight for him is against GGG

If Ward beats Kovalev then makes more sense financially, Golovkin is just chasing money fights.

Yeah, if Ward wins = he's actually worth fighting. If he gets KO'd, they might fancy their chances.

Agree would make the fight bigger

but ward would have to move back down to 168

You mean like 99% of the boxers. Martinez was chasing money fights in Cotto, Floyd, Chavez and had no interest in fighting guys like Pirog and GGG and nobody cared.

both ways the fight can happen

but ward is chasing money so he knows all he has after kovalev is golovkin but golovkin has more money fights

so ward would have to concede more so if he gets knocked out

Shouldn't Golovkin just fight him at 175? He's knocking out heavyweights, right?

Well to be honest that's even worse. Smith had no right to be in that ring with an elite fighter like Ward.

My problem with the Ward/Golovkin situation is IF Ward could still make 168 he could have stayed there beaten a champion there and forced HBO'S hand with Golovkin. Lets be honest any of the current top fighters at 168 are all better than Smith, Brand or even Sullivan. It would of been a big money/exposure fight.

Ward has moved up to 175 because I believe he can't make the weight anymore and he's been offered the Kovalev fight as the golden carrot by HBO.

Ward moving up has nothing to do with him choosing to and "daring to be great" he's having to because he's big at the weight and he's had a long layoff.

Either way Ward v Kovalev is the best fight this year.

Who cares if he's moving up because he can't make weight anymore? He's fighting the opponent he's supposed to fight and that's all that matters.

Yea Golovkin is rolling in big fights right now

Have to agree here. At the moment, Ward is not exactly a household name. He's well known to the serious boxing fan, to guys that appreciate his skills. But the years of inactivity have hurt his marketability.

Whereas Golovkin is building up a serious head of steam behind him. The Brook fight, while sucky to us guys that want to see him in with a stiffer test, will certainly build up his profile in Britain.

Now, if Ward beats Kovalev, that's another story.

I just hope HBO promotes the fight properly.
