why did Arturo Gatti get inducted ahead of Prince Naseem?

    lets compare the stats of the two legends
    Arturo Gatti
    pro record:40-9
    world titles:won 2 titles
    world title defences:8 title defences
    lineal world titles:NONE
    world champs defeated:5 champs


    Prince Naseem Hamed
    pro record: 36-1(31 KO)
    world titles: won 3 titles
    world title defences: 15 defences
    Lineal world titles won: F.W lineal champ for 3 years
    World Champs defeated: 8 world champs (6 by KO)


    for anyone saying that hamed had no heart..they should watch his legendary fight with Kelley in '97..he got knocked down 3 times got up each time and KTFOed kelley in round 4.

    do you think Hamed will EVER get inducted?

    What`s the big deal if he isn`t in it? There`s no doubt there`s some names there that shouldn`t be.Hamed made his legacy as one of the finest all time featherweights.He deserves to be in it but he`ll be overlooked no doubt but who gives a ****? I don`t,don`t think he does either.

    He wasn`t a bum:nut. Beat the arse off virtually all top featherweights,came worse off against Barrera,he still went the 12 rds and ko`d a very decent Kevin Kelley in a brilliant fight.Kept the wbo title for 5 years.

    Gatti had the better career. Gatti did everything in ring, Hamed was more about his entrances, his trash talk, and his annoying **** out of people.

    Who did hamed actually beat besides C level kevin kelly and maybe auggie sanchez? I mean gattis resume is weak, but hamed's is paper thin.

    Indeed. Gatti got in before Hamed because he is more liked by the voters.

    Sometimes we build the Hall of Fame into this mythical, pearly-gated place, when all judgement day really consists of is a bunch of writers looking at names on a ballot and ticking off the ones that they like. The quality of IBHOF is limited by the knowledge and personal bias of the voters.

    Gatti being inducted before (eg) Curry is both ridiculous and perfectly understandable, depending on how you look at it.

    TS is right, if Gatti is in so should Hamed. Maybe it's cos he's dead whereas Hamed's just fat ?
